Iran was expelled from the UN Council

Tehran: Iran has been expelled from the UN Economic and Social Council, which works for equal rights for women.

The United States presented the motion to expel Iran from the commission. 29 members were in favor and eight were against. 16 members including India abstained. Iran’s membership period was until 2026.

Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeed Jalin Irani, said that the United States had made fabricated allegations and that the expulsion from the council would hinder the progress of women in the country.

Supplyco: Salary revision from December

Thiruvananthapuram:  Cabinet meeting today approved the implementation of the 11th pay revision for Supplyco employees. When the salary revision for state employees and teachers was implemented in March 2021, SupplyCoil was not implemented.

The organizations of Supplyco employees came on strike demanding the implementation of salary revision. But in the discussion held with the employee organizations under the chairmanship of Minister G.R. Anil, it was assured that the salary revision will be implemented from December.

The cabinet meeting held today approved the implementation of salary revision for Supplyco employees.

Bird flu confirmed in Kottayam

Kottayam:  Bird flu confirmed in Kottayam district. Bird flu was found in ducks and chickens reared on farms in Arpookara and Thalayazham panchayats. Steps have been taken to euthanize and bury the birds to prevent the spread of the disease.

Bird flu was detected in the western region of the Kottayam district. It has been decided to kill about 5000 ducks belonging to the farmers of the second ward of Arpookara panchayat and the ninth ward of Thalayazham panchayat. Broiler chickens on the farm were the ones who developed the symptoms. Subsequently, bird flu was detected in the preliminary test conducted at the lab in Thiruvalla. Also sent to the lab in Bhopal for confirmation.

The type of H5N1 flu that affects all birds was detected in Kottayam. Considering the special situation, the District Collector called an emergency meeting yesterday.

US lawmakers have introduced a bill to ban TikTok

Washington: US Senator Marco Rubio has introduced legislation to ban the Chinese social media platform TikTok in the US. The bill is based on national security threats. The bill is the latest move in the US against a company owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance.

Senator Rubio accused the government of not taking any steps to protect American users from the threat of TikTok. The app has been used to manipulate feeds and influence elections. No more time to waste on pointless negotiations with a CCP company. Rubio also said that it is time to ban TikTok, which is controlled by Beijing.

Chinese law requires Tik Tok’s parent company to hand over users’ data to the Chinese Communist Party. Rubio also accused it of posing a major security threat. Last month, the FBI chief expressed concern that China could use the app to influence and control users. Many US states have banned the app from government devices.

17 dead, 15 injured in bus overturn in Nepal

Kathmandu: The death toll in a bus accident in central Nepal has reached 17. Police informed that more than 15 people were injured. The accident took place on Tuesday evening in the Kavrepalanchowk district. It is not yet clear how many people were on the bus.

The accident occurred when the bus carrying passengers was returning after attending a religious ceremony. The bus overturned at Chalal Ganesh Sthan in Bethanchowk Village Council-4, Kavrepalanchowk. Three people died on the spot and 14 died on the way to the hospital.

Nepal Police and Army are conducting rescue operations. The police said that the reason behind the accident is not clear yet. Located about 90 km from the capital Kathmandu, the Bethanchowk area is full of steep roads and narrow slopes.

Bengaluru:  First Zika virus case reported in Karnataka A five-year-old girl was diagnosed with the disease in Manvi in Raichur district. Neither the child nor family members had taken any trips abroad. They lived in an isolated place in the village. Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar said.

Although earlier cases of Zika virus have been reported from Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, this is the first case in Karnataka. The child’s serum is initially tested for dengue and chikungunya. After they were not found, they were sent to the virology lab in Pune. Dr. Sudhakar said that the state government is carefully monitoring the situation. He said there was no need to panic and the health department would soon issue guidelines to deal with the Zika virus. Two expert teams from Bengaluru and Kolkata have also reached the spot to conduct further inspections.

The cyclonic vortex over north Tamil Nadu, south Karnataka and north Kerala has entered the southeast Arabian Sea.

Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning saying that people should not go fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts. The warning stated that there is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather along the Kerala-Karnataka coasts with a speed of 40 to 45 km per hour and on some occasions up to 55 km per hour.

Clash on India-China border; Many soldiers injured

New Delhi:  Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. China has reportedly provoked more with than 300 troops along the Line of Actual Control in Tawang. As the Indian Army retaliated, many Chinese soldiers were injured. 9 Indian soldiers were also injured in the encounter. The incident happened on December 9, Friday.

In May 2020, China’s provocation along the Pangong Valley in Ladakh led to a war-like situation along the Line of Actual Control. The Vismaya Case; The High Court rejected the plea of Kiran

Kollam: The High Court rejected the plea of Kiran Kumar, the accused in the Vimsaya case. A plea to stay the execution of the sentence was dismissed pending the decision of the appeal challenging the order of the Kollam Sessions Court.

The Kollam Sessions Court sentenced Vismaya’s husband Kirankumar to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of twelve and a half lakh rupees. Although the court sentenced the accused to 25 years imprisonment on various charges, the court had clarified that it is enough to serve the punishment together. In his appeal, Kiran said that he was convicted without even sufficient evidence.

On June 21, 2021, Vismaya was found dead at her husband’s house on Shastamkota road. Vismaya and Kiran Kumar got married on May 30, 2020. The court found Kiran Kumar guilty on May 24.
