In another low key Onam, a number of low profile movies will fight it out at the Mollywood Box Office. The first among the list is Vinayan’s ‘Yakshiyum Njanum’ . The other two movies that have already finalised their presence in the theatres for this Onam includes ‘Pattinte Palazhi’ directed by Rajiv Anchal and Sreenivasan’s ‘Aatmakatha’.

Yakshiyum Njanum’ is directed by Vinayan. It has new comers Gowtham, Shyam, Meghna Nair and late actor Rajan P. Dev’s son Jubin Raj in the lead.Noted music director Raveendran’s son Sajan Madhavan has tuned the music for the first time for this film. Kaithapram has penned the lyrics.

‘Pattinte Palazhi’ which features Meera Jasmine after a long time in Mollywood is a musical with some nice songs set by Suresh Manimala. The movie also has Manoj K Jayan, Revathy, Nedumudi Venu and Jagathy in key roles. The nine songs of the movie are sung by Hariharan, Ustad Faiyas Khan, Chitra and Vijay Yesudas.

‘Aatmakatha’ is a pleasant story about the positive life attitudes of a blind pair, to live out their life with satisfaction. Directed by Premlal, a former associate of Blessy, the movie featues Sreenivasan and Sharbani Mukherjee in the lead. Jagathy, Kochu Preman and Sreelatha are in the supporting cast of ‘Aatmakatha’ which will have music by Alphonse.

Vidya Balan is all set to do her first so-called item number in Santosh Sivan’s next venture Urumi.Vidya will perform a traditional version of the Mohiniattam dance form. A source reveals, “It won’t be a raunchy number but definitely a very sensuous one.”

Set in the 15th century, Urumi is a period film that revolves around the killer of Vasco Da Gama.Genelia plays a Portuguese Princess and Prithviraj plays the lead male.The movie will be bilingual made in Tamil and Malayalam

Superstar Kamal Hassan will appear in a guest role in Saji Surendran’s upcoming movie Four Friends.Kamal Haasan who has completed the shoot for the movie will also dub in Malayalam for the flick.He is making his comeback to the Malayalam movie industry after a hiatus of 23 years.The multi-talented actor,was last seen in the Malayalam movie called Chanakyan and Daisy.

The movie is scripted by Krishna Poojappura and is mainly for the youth. It tells the story of a trio of friends who embark on a journey to search for one of their past lady loves.

Four Friends is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under the banner of Mulakupadam films.The movie will be released by the final months of the year.

Arya has decided to embark on a project by Roshan Andrews as his film for Mollywood landing.Prithviraj will be his costar in the lead.

Arya whose original name is Jamshad Cethirakath, began his career as a computer engineer. The intense cinephile in him helped to start in Tamil with promising films like Jeeva’s ‘Ullam Ketkume’ in 2005. His first release was ‘Arinthum Ariyamalum’ which was a noted flick of the year. Thereafter many major successes followed him in Tamil including ‘Vattaram’, ‘Pattiyal’ and the national award winning ‘Naan Kadavul’. His new release is ‘Madrasapattinam’- a period film which is also faring well at the box office.

Padmakumar movie ‘Shikaar’,is all set to reach the theatres as an Onam -Ramzan release. Now scheduled for the first weekend of September, the movie will be an emotional thriller, shot at many dangerous places in India. The climax of the movie was recently shot at ‘Guna’ caves at Kodaikanal where the superstar is said to have done some of the most difficult stunt scenes in his career.

Featuring Mohanlal as Balaraman, a lorry driver, this story about an unusual revenge is expected to be in the league of his precious classics like ‘Bhramaram’ and ‘Thazhvaaram’. The movie will also feature Ananya of ‘Naadodigal’ fame as Mohanlal’s daughter while Sneha plays his wife’s role. ‘Subramaniapuram’ fame Samuthirakani, Kalabhavan Mani, Jagathy Sreekumar and Kailash are also in the cast lines of the movie.

After much speculations about being in a Mollywood movie, Tamil superstar Vikram has decided to act in a Malayalam film. He will be donning the lead in the yet to be titled new project directed by Roshan Andrews.
Vikram had asked Roshan to suggest any meaningful plot during a private function quite a few weeks back, through which he can be again in Malayalam cinema. Roshan then e-mailed the synopsis of a thread suggested by his writers Bobby-Sanjai. Vikram immediately fell for the wonderful plot and agreed to do the project.
