Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has quashed the sexual assault case filed against film director Ranjith. The court found the accusations made by the complainant to be prima facie baseless.
The court noted that the delay in filing the complaint raised suspicion, and that many claims made in the complaint lacked clarity.
The allegation was that a youth from Mankavu, Kozhikode, was subjected to unnatural sexual assault by Ranjith in 2012 at Taj Hotel in Bengaluru. However, the court pointed out that the hotel only began operations in 2016. The 12-year delay in filing the complaint was deemed unjustifiable.
