Two Accused Granted Bail in Parliament Smoke Attack Case

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has granted bail to Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat, two of the accused in the smoke attack inside Parliament on December 13, 2023. The bench, consisting of Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, issued the ruling with conditions to ensure they do not influence the investigation or trial. The bail terms prohibit them from discussing the case with the media, leaving the Delhi-NCR area without court permission, or posting any related content on social media. They must also report to their respective police stations every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. The incident occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, when two individuals jumped from the visitors’ gallery and released yellow gas inside the chamber, shouting slogans. Other accomplices acted similarly outside the Parliament complex. Later, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat were also arrested.
