Apple officially debuted its long-awaited first foldable smartphone—the iPhone Duo—globally during its flagship ‘Surprise and Shine’ event. Designed with a passport-style folding form factor, the device introduces a brand-new product line for Apple alongside its thinnest chassis design to date.
Design and Display
The iPhone Duo features a dual-screen design engineered with a premium titanium frame and a custom hinge mechanism to manage smooth opening and closing motions:
- Inner Screen: A 7.6-inch folding display maintaining a consistent aspect ratio, optimized for running two apps side-by-side via side-by-side multitasking support.
- Outer Screen: A 5.4-inch cover screen for quick, one-handed tasks.
- Stylus Support: Full compatibility with the Apple Pencil (USB-C).
Performance and Hardware
- Processor: Powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chipset built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process—the same silicon powering the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
- Camera Setup: Equipped with a dual rear camera system featuring two 48-megapixel sensors, supplemented by dedicated selfie sensors on both the cover screen and the main internal display.
- Biometrics & Battery: Features side-mounted Touch ID integrated into the power button for authentication and supports MagSafe wireless charging.
