Extreme heat in northern states; The death toll has crossed 150 in various states

Extreme heat prevails in North Indian states.  Due to the heat wave, the death toll has crossed 150 in various states.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked government institutions and hospitals to conduct fire audits due to the possibility of heat wave.  The Meteorological Center has warned the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat as the heat wave continues.

 In the last 24 hours, more than 50 people have died due to sunstroke in various states, according to an unofficial estimate.  The Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh informed that 33 election officials died in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections due to heat wave in Uttar Pradesh.  The dead were home guards, cleaners and other poll workers.  Death due to sunstroke rises to 96 in Odisha  Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain in Delhi as a relief from the intense heat.
