Ram Gopal Varma Accused; Court issues non-bailable warrant in cheque bounce case

Mumbai: The court has found Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma guilty in the cheque bounce case. The Andheri Magistrate’s Court, which heard the case, has issued a non-bailable warrant against the director. The verdict was delivered yesterday in the case that has been pending in the court for the past seven years.

Ram Gopal Varma should pay a compensation of Rs 3.75 lakh to the complainant. The court also directed that if the compensation amount is not handed over within three months, he should also serve three months in jail.

In 2018, a cheque bounce case was filed against Ram Gopal Varma by a person named Maheshchandra Mishra on behalf of a company named ‘Shri’. In 2022, the court granted bail to the director after he provided a bond and security deposit of Rs 5,000, but the trial continued.
