• ANALYSIS TO DIRECTION, STORY, SCREENPLAY & DIALOGUES:
The movie ‘Thamasha’ is directed by the newcomer Ashraf Hamza who also handles the story and screenplay. The movie is produced by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Lijo Jose Pellissery and Chemban Vinod.
First of all the director, Ashraf Hamza deserves a huge applause for his extraordinary directional work. The way he executed the movie had given a fresh feel-good presence which is a treat for every kind if viewers to watch on this Eid. A simple story was directed brilliantly without making any sort of confusing elements. His entire direction was passionate and also he had neatly directed according to the core of the story and screenplay which maintained to give the impact till the end.
The story written by the director is something we had seen before but the factors he included in the romantic track of the film will show the different perspectives of behaviour if he or she is not fare or fat. Interfering on others life and its effect was genuinely written by the director. The social things which the movie was authentic and gives a good lesson to remember.
The screenplay was having combined factors of real sentiments, romance, friendship, struggles, humour, sorrows, etc, therefore, the maker had victoriously accomplished to implement all these elements brilliantly without losing the engaging grasp and vibe of the film.
Important the director had also used the unique talents of the actor Vinay Forrt effectively which was a treat to watch because his naturalistic acting was seen throughout the film which gives Vinay Forrt a career-best performance.
The dialogues in the film were really keen and observant which was engrossing because the dialogues were having the right soulful momentum which had given a fresh feel for the viewers and will also make to think. The situational comedy dialogues had written well to make good humour.
Therefore it is clearly evident in Thamasha that the ultimate winning credits are in the court of the director Ashraf Hamza which he successfully won to make a beautiful feel-good romantic movie.
•PERFORMANCE OF ACTORS:
Thamasha comes with the casting of Vinay Forrt as Sreene Mash and along Arun Kurian, Divya Prabha, Grace Antony, Chinnu Chandini Nair and Navas Vallikunu joins in the casting.
Vinay Forrt as Sreene Mash did an excellent performance. No words to describe his acting, the entire performance deserves a huge applause. His characterization was really authentic and the way he presented and acted out his character was unbelievable. The entire acting of Vinay Forrt was realistic because he was just living as the character to establish an extraordinary performance. His dialogue delivery was flawless with the perfect timing. The various emotion like love, fun, surprise, sorrow, excitement, wonder etc was implemented accurately by him in his acting. Importantly, another level of masterly acting of Vinay Fort was witnessed in his romantic scenes, a feeling of fresh and pure love was passed to the viewers by him. No doubt the character ‘Sreene Mash’ is one of his career-best performance.
Navas Vallikunu also did a notable performance. His situational comedies had really worked out well and his dialogue delivery was fantastic. His romantic scenes were charming and the combination scenes with Vinay Forrt was also pleasant to watch.
Arun Kurian as the brother of Vinay Forrt was good but for performing the screen space was less still he had done total justice to his character.
As the heroine, three actress plays a crucial role. Divya Prabha as the professor was looking gorgeous on her outlook and the performance was simple and great. Grace Antony as Safiya had also done a good job. Her combination scene with Vinay Forrt was authentic.
Chinnu Chandini Nair as Chinnu made a fabulous performance. Her screen presence in the second half was delightful to watch also her excellent acting with perfect dialogue delivery was worth to watch. Her outlook was also gorgeous and the sweet smile will bring happiness to the mind. Her entire combination scenes with Vinay Forrt was purely fun and romantic with little sentimental stuff. Overall her performance is one of the major winning highlights of the film Tamasha.
•MUSIC & TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
The musical work for the film is composed by thr hitmakers Rex Vijayan and Shahabaz Aman and the Background Score is handled by Neha Nair and Rex Vijayan.
The song ‘Padi Njan’ sung by Shahabaz Aman was really melodious with his unique voice and the strong lyrics written by Pulikkottil Hyder and Mushin Parari made the song as one of the best Malayalam romantic songs of recent time. Also, the song ‘Kanumbol Ninne’ composed by Rex Vijayan and sung by Asha Jeevan was fascinating by its feel. The lyrics of Mushin Parari was incredible for it which will make the viewers think differently and the tunes by the voice of Asha Jeevan made the song phenomenal.
The Background Score tuned by Rex Vijayan and Neha was truly matching for every scenario in the film especially the background score at the climax. The BGM at the romantic scenes were also impressive.
The cinematography of Sameer Thahir who is well known for his spectacular works. In Thamasha also he had an amazing job to set outstanding visuals. The shots and visuals he captured for the song ‘Padi Njan’ was amazing especially the romantic moments between the central characters. The beauty of nature, wide-angle scenes and the shots which the birds fly was absolutely magical. The visuals of Biennale was overwhelming with the attractive lovely visuals of Vinay Forrt and Chinnu.
The editing is done by Shafique Mohamed Ali and his editing task was bright with perfect cuts which didn’t affect the viewing experience. The Art Department had also done a solid job in bringing out genuine sets and the Costume Designer Mashar Hamsa deserves a special mention for bringing out the right costumes for every character.
•OVERALL:
So overall Thamasha had given me a heart touching experience by its magnificent story and screenplay, also the acting of Vinay Forrt made the movie as a big worth watch film. To conclude Thamasha is an amazing choice for this Eid to watch out with your families, friends and with your loved one.

Thottappan revolves around the life of Itthaque and Jonappan who are partners in crime and lives as a thief. One day Jonappan found missing and Ittahaq decides to take care of his friend’s daughter named as Sara. Gradually Sara and Itthaque got a special bond of a daughter and grandfather. Rest of the story revolves around the happenings of their life.
• ANALYSIS TO DIRECTION, STORY, SCREENPLAY & DIALOGUES:
The movie Thottappan is directed by Shanavas.K.Bavakutty who is known for his first film Kismath which was released in 2016. In his second film, he joins with the popular actor Vinayakan and Roshan Mathews.
Shanavas.K.Bavakutty made a quality direction from the beginning to the end and his realistic way of making style was good. The story of the movie was on a similar pattern and the screenplay was not that great. Although the director Shanavas.K.Bavakutty had given his best effort to end the movie as watchable.
The direction held by the director Shanavas.B.Bavakutty gives the film to move accurately from the starting without giving any sort of confusion and also the director had worked well to portray the life of the central characters effectively as per the story.
The film largely focuses on the life of the central characters, therefore, the director and writer had eminently represented their real life and also the director successfully used the acting talent of the lead actors which gives a vibrant life and a career-best performance to the actors.
The story of Francis Noronha is all about the pure loving bond of a daughter and grandfather which will definitely hook the viewers to watch till the end. The story is simple and when the movie travels to actual plot the ending was predictable.
The screenplay was written by PS. Rafeeque and the screenplay were having the mixed factors of parenthood, situational comedies, romance, stunts, lust, betrayal etc so each of these factors was written to engage the audience but still, the screenplay writer could have put little more effort to make the story engaging and thrilling. The major twist and turn in the movie happening to the central character and its further situations were bit unsurprising and predictable which turned out less engaging.
The observant dialogues in the film were interesting because the communication between the character was having a realistic sort of approach and also the naturalistic conversation had given a different feel. Also, the catchy conversation had built a soulful momentum in the emotional and crucial scenes which were engaging.
Overall the making of the director was fine but the predictable story and half baked screenplay made the movie as a mediocre watchable film.
•PERFORMANCE OF ACTORS:
Thottappan comes with the casting of Vinayakan and Roshan Mathews playing the lead character, along Dileesh Pothan, Manoj.K.Jayan, Lal, Priyamvada, Regunath Paleri, Manju Pathrose, Master Davinchi, Sreeja Das, Irshad Ali, Sunil Sukhada, PS. Rafeeque and Prashanth Murali join in the casting.
Vinayakan as Itthaque had delivered another outstanding performance. The movie was all about his interesting screen presence and the acting which he executed was spectacular. The way he presented the character ‘Itthaque’ was really natural and realistic. His exceptional acting from starting to end definitely deserves huge applause because he was living as the character for giving a striking performance. The emotional scenes held by him was really affectionate and the various emotions he undertook for the character was mind-blowing. The dialogue delivery of Vinayakan was remarkable as usual and the intensity of delivering the dialogue especially when he gets angry and sentimental was top class. Moreover, the naturality and terror behaviour in his character was acted out skillfully. Like I said Thottappan is all about the one-man energetic show of Vinayakan.
Roshan Mathews as Ismu also made a notable first-rate performance. His acting on romantic scenes was superb and also his emotional scenes were also at first-rate. Roshan also shines in his stunts and his combination scene with the actress Priyamvadha was gratifying to watch. Also, his paired scenes with Vinayakan were terrific and powerful.
Priyamvadha Krishnan the debutant actress who played the character ‘Sara’ made an awesome performance. Her combination scenes with Vinayakan shows the real emotion of parenthood. Also, her emotional scenes and dialogue delivery were also good and the romantic scenes with Roshan were also upstanding. Her anger scenes were also superb.
Dileesh Pothan as Johnappan, Manoj.K.Jayan as Peterachan and Lal as Anthrappan did their respective supporting characters brilliantly.
Master Davinchi who did the character Joymon also did a noteworthy performance.
Irshad Ali as Moideen Kanne Ravuthar, Sunil Sukhada as Pili, Prashanth Murali as Booby, Binoy Nambala as Barnard and P.S Rafeeque as Saviar was having some crucial characters with less screen presence and they did total justice to their particular roles.
•MUSIC & TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
The musical work for the film is composed by Leela.L.Girish Kuttan and the background score is composed by Justin Varghese.
The song ‘Pranthan Kandalin’ sung by Pradeep Kumar and Sithara Krishankumar was excellent by the imposing tunes and voice of the singers and also by the lyrics of Anwar Ali. The other song ‘Meene Chembulli Meene’ sung by Nikhil Mathew was romantic with delightful fresh tunes and lyrics of PS. Rafeeq.
The background score tuned by Justin Varghese was unbelievable because each and every background tunes he composed were perfectly matching to pass the vibe and feel for the viewers. The BGM at emotional scenes were also sentimental and also the background score for the romantic scenes had given the right contact.
The Cinematography of Suresh Rajan was beautiful with fabulous visuals of natural beauty and backwater locations. The camera angles he places for the fight sequences were at top-quality. The visuals for the song ‘Meene Chembulli Meene’ was captured appealingly and the various close-up shots also deserve special mention. The underwater sequences were also captured amazingly. The Editing of Manoj Kannoth was fine with quality cuts that don’t give any sort of mismatches in the viewing experience.
The Art Department had also done a splendid job according to the story and its screenplay. The sets were good and logical and also the costume designer Nisar Rahmath had given the correct costumes for the character as per the plot.
•OVERALL:
So overall Thottappan is a decent watchable family drama and the agreeable performance of Vinayakan won’t disappoint any viewers for a one time watch and also watch it with fewer expectations.

Nipah; Condition of affected student improved, 311 under observation
Kochi: The hospital reported that the condition of the student affected Nipah has improved. There are 311 under the observation of the health department. The student fever has declined and the health status has improved. As a precautionary measure, the people give the treatment for the student were transferred to the Isolation Ward.
The Central team has come to Kerala for expert assistance in the case of Nipah virus being confirmed by the student.
A six-member team of experts in the Delhi AIIMS visited Kochi. The Central team will discuss the current situation with the state health department officials and follow up with further steps.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said that all the assistance is being provided to the state with the help of Nipah virus. He also discussed the situation with the state health minister and met the meeting of Delhi’s Health Secretary in Delhi and reviewed the situation.With the confirmation of Nipah, the Control Room has been opened by the Union Ministry of Health in New Delhi.
Malayalee ISIS chief killed in Afghanistan
Rashid Abdulla, who was known as the head of the ISIS terror group was reportedly murdered. According to national media reports, Rashid was killed in US airstrike.
”Three Indian brothers, two sisters, and four children were killed in the attack”- says Rashid’s telegram message. The ISIS responded to a question about what had happened to Rashid.
Rashid was sharing details of the members of the IS in social media. There were reports that Rashid was the leader of the 21 Malayalees who reportedly went from Kerala to join ISIS on May 2016. Rashid’s wife Aisha was also in the team. They arrived in Afghanistan via the UAE and Tehran.
