Thiruvananthapuram: Survey director Shriram Venkitaraman has been arrested in connection with the death Siraj Daily Thiruvananthapuram unit chief K M Basheer. The arrest was made at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram where Shriram admitted after he was injured. Police have charged him with homicide. Shriram will remain in police custody and the remand report will be produced before the magistrate.

The crash happened around 1 am. Wafa, who was in the car with Shriram Venkitaraman, was released without being taken into police custody. When the journalists went to the police station and inquired about the matter, they phoned and brought Wafa back to the station.

Baramulla: A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kashmir. One soldier was injured. The clashes occurred in Sopora district. A militant and a soldier were killed in a fire exchange in Shopian district yesterday. This was followed by another encounter. Conflict in the area is still going on.

Security has been tightened in and around Kashmir following the terrorist threat. The government has ordered the state to leave the state to tourists and pilgrims to Amarnath.

Former Maldives vice president Ahmad Adeeb has returned by India after he was illegally entered the country. Adeeb was sent back after the Indian government rejected Ahmed’s request for asylum. Adeeb was arrested by Tamil Nadu police while attempting to enter India on a freight ship. Adeeb left the Maldives on July 27. Adeeb’s passport was blocked by Mali authorities as the investigation into the cases is progressing.Adeeb was reported missing last week. The Mali authorities have reported that Adeeb may enter India. Tamil Nadu Police has been searching for Adeeb based on confidential information.

Moga: A Young man commits suicide after killing his family. The shocking murder of conscience took place in Nathuval district of Punjab last day. Sandeep Singh (27) killed his, father, mother, grandmother and sister, sister’s three-year-old daughter with a gun. The grandfather, who was shot dead from Sandeep, is under treatment at the hospital.

Police said the gun used in the murder was stolen from a relative. The real reason for the killing is unclear. The defendant was mentally unstable due to lack of employment. The investigation team also said that they were in dispute with their families regarding the marriage proposal. The preliminary conclusion that this may have led to the murder of the accused is under investigation.
