In the Netherlands, the burqa ban was enacted. The ban applies to clothe that covers the face completely or partially. The ban applies to all sectors, including public transport, hospitals, and educational institutions.

After over a decade of deliberation and debate, the Burqa Prohibition Act is being introduced in the Netherlands. In a statement, the Netherlands Home Minister said that the face masks would be illegal in the country from today. The law, which was passed in June last year, is applicable from now.

Ahmedabad: At least four people died in an accident following heavy rain in Vadodara. A wall collapsed in the heavy rain continuing in the state for several days, killed the people. According to reports, 5000 people in the Vadodara premises have been shifted to a safe place. Within 24 hours, Vadodara gets 500 mm rain, sources said. The main airport in Vadodara has been shut since Wednesday. And several trains canceled and diverted due to the heavy rain.

Diplomatic aid to Kulbhushan Jadhav; India to assess Pakistan’s promise

New Delhi: Pakistan has promised to provide diplomatic assistance to former Navy chief Kulbhushan Jadhav, Indian Foreign Spokesperson Ravish Kumar has said. “After assessing Pakistan’s promise, we will respond diplomatically,” he said. The promise was made by Pakistan following the setback from the International Court of Justice in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

The verdict in the International Court of Justice was on July 17 in favor of India. The court also asked for a reconsideration of the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav and recommended that steps be taken to bring Jadhav to India’s diplomatic aid. India’s claim that Pakistan had violated the Vienna Agreement by denying diplomatic aid to Jadhav was recognized by the International Justice of Court.

Meanwhile, Indian diplomats have been granted permission to meet Kulbhushan Jadhav. Pakistan permitted for officials to visit Kulbhushan today. Pakistan’s action is on the orders of the International Court of Justice.

Kulbhushan, who was arrested in March 2016 on charges of spying for Pakistan, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani court in April 2017. Following the intervention of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Pakistan was forced to reconsider Kulbhushan’s execution on July 17, 2019. The court also asked Pakistan to allow Indian diplomats to see Kulbhushan.

Accordingly, Pakistan has permitted Indian officials to visit Kulbhushan. Meanwhile, foreign spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said Pakistan had informed India of the matter and had not taken a stand. “The sanction is being verified under the guidelines laid down by the International Tribunal,” he said.

Unnao case trial will transfer Uttar Pradesh to Delhi Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today ordered the transfer of five cases from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi in connection with the Unnao rape case. The case included the road accident of the victim, his family, his lawyer. The court also directed the CBI to investigate the matter within seven days. The trial must be completed within 45 days. The court has also ordered a daily trial.

The court also directed that the girl and her lawyer be taken to Delhi for further treatment if their family consents.The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday directed the government to hand over Rs 25 lakh as compensation to the girl and her family. The court also demanded that the CRPF provide security to the victim, her family, her close relatives, and her lawyer.

The flood cess in the state has been rampant since today. One percent cess is levied on goods service tax. Cess is not applicable for items having GST rates below 5%. The Cess will be held for two years.

The Flood Cess was set up as part of raising funds for post-flood reconstruction. Cess is imposed on 928 products which are subject to 12, 18 and 28% freight service tax. GST rates of less than five percent, including rice, sugar, salt, fruits, and vegetables, do not apply to cess on leviable goods, hotel food, bus and train tickets. With the implementation of the cess, prices of products such as car, bike, TV, refrigerator, washing machine, mobile phone, medicines, cement, and paint will increase. The cess is one percent with the goods service tax. Gold is a quarter of a percent.

Cess applies to tax slabs of up to five percent of products. Small merchants who have an annual turnover of up to Rs 1 crore is avoided from cess.  The SEZ applies to transactions within the state. The state expects to get Rs 500 crore in a year. The government has set a target of Rs 1000 crore in two years.
