Thiruvananthapuram: Kalyan Jewelers will donate Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. TS Kalyanaraman, Chairman and Managing Director of Kalyan Jewelers will hand over the check to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram.

TS Kalyanaraman said that just as we have survived the last flood, we will survive this flood as a whole and we will join our efforts to bring Kerala back to normalcy. In addition to this donation, Kalyan Jewelers, together with various NGOs, will be providing homes for the flood victims in the coming months.

He said Kalyan’s team was actively involved in the relief effort. During the Flood of 2018, Kalyan Jewelers spent more than Rs 2 crore on relief work.

Heavy rain; Death toll rises to 101 in the state

Thiruvananthapuram: The death toll from the torrential rain in Kerala has risen to 101. Despite the search for missing people using mapping systems, rain continues to slow down operations.

The alert has been issued in Idukki, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts. Red alert announced in Malappuram and Kozhikode. The death toll from the rains has risen to 93.

From Kasaragod to Thrissur districts, rainfall of fewer than 10 centimeters was recorded in the last 24 hours. Red Alert announced in Idukki, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts.

Universities and PSCs should comply with the notification regarding examinations, Ernakulam Kala Turk said. The Wayanad Collector said the holidays will not apply to Model Residential Schools. Departmental examinations to be conducted by the PSC were also postponed.
