Washington DC: Protest erupted in several cities in America following the death of George Floyd. The people held a protest in 50 cities, reports said. On the fifth day of protest, the authorities imposed curfew in more than 40 cities.

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains continue across the state following the low pressure formed in the Arabian Sea. Yellow Alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram Kannur districts. On the west coast, between the island of Lakshadweep and Kerala, there are two minor blows in the Arabian Sea. Minor pressure has been strong for more than 48 hours. It is expected to be a Nisarga hurricane by tomorrow. The official announcement of the monsoon arrival in Kerala is expected to take place at 2 pm at a press conference held by the Central Meteorological Department.
Fishermen have been warned not to go to sea until June 4, as winds are likely to accelerate to 45 to 55 km per hour. Meanwhile, the meteorological department said that the monsoon would hit the coast of Kerala soon. Heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala. The Meteorological Department had earlier said that the monsoon is likely to come in June.
Lucknow: At least 43 people were killed in several parts of Uttar Pradesh during Saturday night’s rains. Many people were injured. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who expressed grief over the death, announced Rs 4 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased.
Heavy casualties were reported in several districts. Four people were killed by lightning and four others died after tree felling. Lucknow recorded 57.4 mm rainfall on Saturday. This is the first time in 61 years that a single day of May has seen so much rain in Lucknow. The previous record was 57 mm of rain on May 28, 1959.
The Taj Mahal complex was also damaged by heavy rains. Damage to the main gate, marble, and sandstone caves has been damaged. However, Archaeological Survey of India official Vasant Kumar Savarnkar said the main building and the towers were not damaged.
Mumbai: Bollywood music director and singer Wajid Khan passes away. Wajid, who was undergoing treatment for infection after a kidney transplant, confirmed COVID also according to national media reports.
Wajid has composed music for super hits like Wanted, Ekta Tiger and Dabangg. He has composed music for several films with his brother Sajid. Wajid made his debut in the 1998 film Salman Khan with Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.

Thiruvananthapuram: A special train will run between Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam and vice versa from Monday. The train will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at Monday 7.45 am and will arrive at Ernakulam at 12.30 up to June 9.
And from June 10, the departure time of the train will be change. It will depart at 5.15 am and will reach Ernakulam at 9.45.
In return, the 06301 Ernakulam Junction–Thiruvananthapuram Central daily special train will leave Ernakulam Junction at 1 p.m. to reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 5.30 p.m. The train will reach Kottayam at 2 p.m., Thiruvalla at 2.35 p.m., Chengannur at 2.45 p.m., and Kollam junction at 4 p.m. The trains will run with one AC Chair Car and 18 Second Class Chair Car coaches, the Railways said.
The utility will also run daily superfast special trains between Tiruchchirappalli and Nagercoil and back from June 1 with stoppages at Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, and Tirunelveli.
New Delhi: Railway police say 80 people have died in the month of Shramik trains launched to repatriate guest workers during the Coronavirus outbreak. Of the guest workers who traveled on Shramik trains, 80 have already died in the country.The railway pointed out that the congestion on the train passenger, the problems of availability of food, and the excessive heat caused the death of the guest workers. The railway points out that the deceased guest workers are in treatment and have serious health problems. Therefore, the Indian Railway has issued guidelines for travelers who are pregnant, children under the age of 10, and those with serious health problems. According to Indian Railways, over 5 million workers were able to use the Shramik trains on 3,840 trains between May 1 and 27. Smart Investors Railway Board Chairman, who pointed out that each death is an irreparable loss, said that the railway would be able to stop the train and bring them to the hospital. It is being prepared. He said this at a news conference. But the accusation that guest workers died due to lack of food is baseless. Yadav said he would respond to the matter once the death toll is available. About 80% of Shramik trains are operated in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in India. The Shramik service was launched in the country from May 1 to return guest workers trapped in the COVID crisis. The number of cases reported in Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal have increased with the return of large numbers of guest workers. Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that as per the decision of this year’s Monsoon and Thulavarsa Preparatory Meeting in Kerala, 10 teams of the National Disaster Response Force was asked to be deployed in Kerala. A total of 28 teams were asked to volunteer.
The Chief Minister said that the National Disaster Response Force had informed that the first four teams would arrive in Kerala. Currently, four teams are in addition to one team in Thrissur. The National Disaster Response Force has an average of 48 people per team. The Chief Minister said that the first batch will arrive in Wayanad, Idukki, Thrissur, and Alappuzha districts.
New Delhi: Lockdown extended to June 30 with more concessions. The government has decided to phase out the lockdown. The exemption from June 8 does not apply to containment zones. Strict restrictions will remain in place. Elsewhere, hotels and restaurants will open after June 8. They must comply with the guidelines of the Department of Health.
Travel across the state and the district is also permitted. It does not require prior permission or e-pass. The respective state governments can assess the situation and impose restrictions. Meanwhile, overnight bans will continue. Educational institutions will be opened in the second phase. International travel and metro transport will be restored in the third phase. At this stage, movie theaters, gymnasiums, and swimming pools and parks will be opened. Other public programs will also be permitted at this stage.
WHO has declared the COVID-19 epidemic affecting 217 countries, areas or territories as a Pandemic. Considering the increase in number of cases, the state has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease in view of the same.

124167 persons are placed under surveillance, out of which 123087 are under home/institutional quarantine and 1080 are admitted in designated isolation facilities.
Sample Testing
Till date 62746 samples (including augmented samples) have been sent for testing out of which 60448 came as negative.
Apart from above, 11468 samples were taken from priority groups like health care workers, persons with high social exposure, workers etc. as part of Sentinel surveillance of which 10635 samples tested negative.

62new COVID-19 positive cases have been declared today.Of which 14 are from Palakkad, 7 from Kannur, 6 from Thrissur, 5 each from Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Malappuram, 4 each from Ernakulam and Kasaragod, 3 from Alappuzha, 2 each from Kollam and Wayanad, 1 each from Kottayam, Idukki and Kozhikode and 2 Air India cabin crew members have been declared today.
COVID-19 positive patient who was under treatment in Kottayam (Pathanamthitta native) has expired today.
Test results of 10COVID-19 patients under treatment have been declared negative today. Of which 5 from Wayanad, 3 are from Kannur (2 Kozhikode natives) and 1each from Malappuram and Kasaragod have been declare negative.
At present, 577 Positive cases are under treatment.
As per GO (Rt) No. 740/2020/H&FWD dated 19.04.2020 and GO (Rt) No. 740/2020/H&FWD dated 20.04.2020, Hotspots were notified in the state. Based on the daily report by SDMA the list will be modified, and the revised list is attached as annexure.

Pathanamthitta: Pathanamthitta native died today. He was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital after affecting Covid-19 in Pathanamthitta. Thiruvalla Perunduruthy Prakkat Joshi (65) died at 2 am today.
He was working in Sharjah and landed on a Dubai-Kochi flight on May 11. He was living at the Quarantine Center in Pathanamthitta. There were no symptoms until the sample was collected on May 16th. He was admitted to the Pathanamthitta General Hospital on May 18 after being diagnosed with the disease.
He was shifted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital for treatment. Has been on the ventilator since the 27th.
According to the COVID protocol and the recommendations of the state-level experts, the seven-member special medical board treated him. District Collector PK Sudheer Babu said that steps will be taken to bring the body to Pathanamthitta under COVID security standards.
