Thiruvananthapuram: Six more COVID Hotspots, declared by the government. Adichinallur in Kollam District, Muttil in Wayanad District, Kochi Corporation in Ernakulam District, Cheruvathoor, Padanna, and East Ellery in Kasaragod District.

“There are a total of 128 hot spots in the state,” Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters after the Corona review meeting.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Food and Civil Supplies Department has released the quantity of ration share for various ration cards in June. The Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AYA-Blue Card) category offers 30 kg of rice, five kg of wheat-free of charge, and a kilo of sugar for 21 rupees.

Priority members (Pink Card) will get four kg of rice and one kg of wheat at Rs 2 per kg. Both parties get one kg of pulses or cardboard free of cost under the PMGKY scheme. Those who do not receive it in April and May will receive an additional three kilos. As per the PMGKY scheme, each member of the card will get five kg of rice free of cost from 21st.

Each member of the General Category Subsidy (Blue Card) card will get two kg of rice at Rs 4 per kg. White cardholders in the general category get 2 kg of rice at Rs 10.90 per kg. Both parties can get one to three kilos of Atta for Rs 17 per kg. According to the Director of Civil Supplies, four liters of kerosene for the card of all the non-electrified houses will be issued at Rs 20 per liter.

Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister AK Sasheendran has announced that inter-district ferry services will be resumed tomorrow as bus services resume in the state. It has also decided to restore some of the old fares by increasing boat fares. Passengers will be allowed in all seats. Travel by boat is not allowed.

The State Water Transport Department has a total of 54 boats and 5 rescue boats. The boat which runs on the Vaikom-Ernakulam route connects the 3 districts and is not in service at present. A total of 11 boats will operate inter-district services connecting the two districts. The remaining 42 boats will operate within the district. Prior to the lockdown, a total of 748 ferry were operated. However, the travel time is limited to 5 am to 9 pm and the services will be less than what was previously served.

The inter-district services will run from Vaikkom 4, Muhamma-Kumarakom-3, Kottayam-Alappuzha-3 and Kannur-Kasaragod-1. Travelers must wear a mask and use a sanitizer. Travelers will not be allowed to board or unload passengers from hot spots or containment areas. The Minister also directed the Director of State Water Transport Department to ensure all safety measures.

Kollam: Sooraj’s mother Renuka and her sister remanded in connection with the murder of Uthra, a resident of Anchal, Kollam. The police from Punalur reached Sooraj’s Parakkote home and took the two men to the Kottarakkara crime branch office. The investigating team had informed Sooraj’s mother and sister to appear for questioning at 10 am. The two were taken into custody after they did not arrive.

Meanwhile, Suraj’s father, Surendran, had said that  Uthra’s gold buried in the Rubber plantation with the knowledge of Suraj’s mother Renuka. On this basis, they were asked to appear at the Crime Branch Office for interrogation. Sooraj had handed over the gold of Uthra to his father. Sooraj’s father buried gold. 38 sovereigns of gold were recovered. There is more gold to be found.

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains were experienced in many parts of the state as monsoon rains increased as a part of the Nisarga cyclone. Orange alert issued in Kozhikode. Kollam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts have been declared yellow alerts. Fishermen have been warned not to go to sea as the winds are likely to blow up to 60km off the coast of Kerala. Heavy rains continue in many parts of the country Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Thiruvananthapuram: After a two-day hiatus, the liquor sale with BevQ will resume today. The two-day hiatus was partly to solve the app’s technical problems. The Beverages Cooperation said the app was fully equipped to solve all the problems. Those who book early will get a five-kilometer liquor store.

The Kerala Government has handed over the Bevq project to a Kochi-based startup Faircode Technologies. However, the 1 million downloads app faced several glitches such as the inability to receive OTP, app crash, and much more. These problems are solved, authorities said.

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the spread of coronaviruses, the state has started a new academic year through online classes. The authorities will ensure the number of students who cannot attend online classes starting today. The study is through the Victers Channel. There are at least two lakh students without a TV and a smartphone in the state. The Department of Education is preparing to provide learning facilities in the neighborhood of children who do not have learning facilities. This facility will be provided in Anganwadis and schools in collaboration with Kudumbasree.Meanwhile, private schools offer to learn facilities through Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Google Classroom. Some schools offer classes for children from 7 am to 9 pm. The online learning system will be developed with special emphasis on students from backward, coastal, and tribal areas. Also, the Education Department has set up a special system for children with disabilities.
