New Delhi: Nepal bans Indian news channels. The ban comes amid allegations of misrepresentation of Nepalese political leaders and the Chinese ambassador to Nepal. Nepal’s Communications Minister Yubraj Kativada has said that Indian channels do not care about Nepal’s sovereignty and dignity and are looking for diplomatic means against them. This was reported by the news agency ANI.
Nepali Cable Operators said signals from Indian news channels had been removed. But Nepal has not made any official announcement in this regard. Experts say such provocations on the part of Nepal are due to Chinese pressure.

Kochi: A petition in the High Court seeking a CBI probe into the gold smuggling in a diplomatic bag at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. The petition was filed by Michael Varghese from Alappuzha. The petition filed as the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary M Shivankar in opposition parties.
The petition also calls on the CBI, NIA, DRI, and Customs agencies to cooperate with the police on the transactions between the chief minister and M Sivasankaran in gold smuggling, sprinkler, bevco app, and e-mobility consultancy. The plea says these transactions pose a threat to national security. The plea also pointed out that such a central agency-led an inquiry would only take place if the High Court order.
Chennai: The CBI has registered two cases of the death of a father and son in police custody in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
Two cases have been registered in connection with the death of Tuticorin custody, said RK Gaur, a CBI officer. The CBI is investigating the case. The CBI took over the case yesterday.
Police arrested Jayaraj and Bennix alleging violation of lockdown Jayaraj and his son Bennix were taken into police custody. The two men were beaten to death at the Satangulam Police Station.
The incident triggered major protests in Tamil Nadu. The state government had then approached the court seeking a CBI probe into the case. Five police officers have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Visakhapatnam: Eleven people, including LG Polymers Company chief executive officer Sunky Jong, have been arrested in the case of the gas leakage in Visakhapatnam. The arrested have been identified as DS Kim, technical director of LG Polymers, and P Poornachandra Mohan Rao, additional director of operations.
Three officers were suspended by the Pollution Control Board for alleged negligence in duty.
The high power committee set up by the Andhra Pradesh government had said that the lack of precautionary measures caused the accident.
The committee recommended that all directors and managers of the company be sued. Visakhapatnam Commissioner of Police RK Meena said that the investigation showed that the seriousness of the accident was caused by the failure of these officers. The arrest comes just two months after the case was registered.
The disaster occurred on May 7. Styrene gas leaked from the plant’s M6 tank. The toxic gas was discharged after the lockdown when the plant was to open. Eleven people died in the incident. Thiruvananthapuram: Customs inspections at Swapna Suresh’s flat, believed to be the mastermind in the gold smuggling case, have ended. During a six-hour inspection, the customs team seized documents, including a Pendrive. The inspection began at noon at the Ambalamukku flat of Swapna. A laptop, a Pendrive, a bank passbook, a hard disk, and some files were seized from the spot. It was all sealed separately and taken by customs officials.
The customs inspection was conducted in the presence of Swapna’s brother. The team checked the visitor’s list and CCTV footage of the flat. The caretaker’s testimony was recorded. The inspection commenced at noon and ended at 6 pm. Customs had been trying out here for the past few days. According to reports, the customs have received information about eight transactions in which the accused was arrested.
New Delhi: The Union Human Resources Ministry has advised CBSE to cut the syllabus by 30%. Syllabuses of various subjects from classes 9 to 12 are going to be cut. The Minister of Human Resources tweeted that the action was taken after comments from the education-related sections. The ministry received about 1,500 proposals.
The plan is to retain only the major parts and cut the rest. In a tweet, Union Minister Ramesh Pokriyal said in a tweet that this is an unusual move to ease the burden on the students in the case of COVID.
CBSE has, however, advised that the cut off sections should be clarified in the class wherever the related to other parts are to be explained. However, the cut-off part will not be part of the exam. Do not include it in internal exams. Another central board, CISCE, had already cut 25% of its syllabus.
