A ban has been announced in eight places in Malappuram

Malappuram: Against the backdrop of increasing Covid cases, Collector K Gopalakrishnan announced a ban within the limits of 8 local bodies in the Malappuram district. The ban was announced in Kondotty municipality, Cheekode, Cherukavu, Pulikkal, Pallikkal, Morayur, Mangalam, and Porur panchayats.

The ban will take effect from 9 pm tonight. The ban will continue until the 30th or another order is issued.
The order comes in the wake of more than 60 Covid cases being reported in these areas with a positive rate of 30 percent.

New Delhi: Air India has announced the cancellation of India-UK flights from April 24 to 30 amid a rise in Covid cases. The UK had yesterday included India in the list of countries banned from traveling. The UK has been on the red list of countries banned by India since Friday because of Covid’s second expansion in the country.

Air India, meanwhile, said it would soon issue a revised date for passengers on canceled flights and a decision on refunds would be made soon.

SSLC IT exam from May 5; Guidelines issued

Thiruvananthapuram: The SSLC IT exam will start on May 5. The examination will be conducted in compliance with the Covid norms. The Secretary of Examinations has issued guidelines regarding the conduct of the examination.

Students should disinfect their hands before entering the lab and leaving after the exam. Chief Superintendents should make arrangements for this. The allotted exam time for a child is half an hour.

At least seven children should be tested on a computer a day. The examination schedule should be prepared before April 28 and notified to the students in each school.

Covid expansion; Banks are open till 2 pm

Thiruvananthapuram: Banks have changed their working hours following the sharp rise in Covid. From April 21 to the 30th of this month, banks will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bank unions had earlier demanded a change in the schedule. The Joint Committee of Bank Unions had written to the Chief Minister requesting this. In the letter, the unions demanded that the schedule be changed to five days a week and that only essential branches be allowed to open given the Covid crisis.

New Delhi: Serum Institute announces the price of the Covshield vaccine. The price is Rs 400 for state governments and Rs 600 for private hospitals. But the central government will provide the vaccine at a cost of Rs 150. At the same time, ICMR claims that Covaxin is effective against the Covid virus. The ICMR study also found that Covaxin can fight off any virus that causes genetic mutations.

The ICSE had yesterday decided to postpone the exams for Classes X and XII. The decision to cancel the Class X examination was taken as the Covid spread continues unabated. The CBSE had canceled the Class X examination in the wake of the Covid expansion.

Covid patients die due to lack of oxygen; protest in Tamil Nadu

Relatives blamed the fall of the authorities on the deaths of Covid patients. They also demanded action against the culprits. Six Covid victims died of lack of oxygen.

Meanwhile, for the sixth day in a row, more than two lakh Covid patients in the country. In 24 hours, 2,59,170 people confirmed with covid. This brings the total number of cases to 1,53,21,089. Vaccination from May 1 for all over 18 years of age

New Delhi: Vaccination will start on May 1 for all citizens above 18 years of age. The central government made the announcement. Covid vaccination is currently restricted to those over 45 years of age.

“Everyone over the age of 18 is eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19,” the government said in a statement today.
“Vaccine manufacturers have been asked to pay up to 50 percent of their supply to state governments and in the open market at pre-announced prices,” the Center said.
