Washington: Al-Qaeda former leader in Syria killed by the US in drone strike reports said. Abdul Hameer Al-Matar was killed, reports added. Commander-in-Chief Army Major John Riggsby made the announcement.

No other death is confirmed. The US Army base was attacked by Al-Qaeda two days ago. According to the reports, Al- Hameer was killed in retaliation by the US forces.

Lakhimpur: A senior officer investigating the incident in which a vehicle was driven among protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh has been transferred. The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred DIG Upendra Kumar Agarwal, head of the Special Investigation Team. But Upendra Kumar Agarwal is in charge of overseeing the case. UP police said the transfer of Upendra Kumar Agarwal as part of routine procedures.

Meanwhile, the police custody of Ajay Mishra, the son of Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra and the accused in the case, has been extended for two more days. This is the second time that the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court has extended the police custody of Ashish Mishra. Apart from Ashish Mishra, the court also remanded Ankit Das, Sekhar Badri, and Latif in police custody.

Beijing: New Coronavirus outbreaks in China But no definite clues have been released about this. Authorities then canceled hundreds of flights. Beijing has maintained a consistent zero- Covid approach, with strict border closures and targeted lockdowns, while other countries have sought to temporarily ease restrictions.

But despite all this, the outbreak of the new coronavirus now confirms the claim of the world that the virus originated in China. The new virus is reported to be more dangerous. Extensive Covid tests were conducted in Beijing yesterday.

Heavy rains expected in the state today; Yellow alert in various districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the state today. Yellow alert issued in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts. The cyclone that formed off the coast of Tamil Nadu is continuing.

In Kerala, isolated showers and thundershowers of up to 40 kmph are likely in Kozhikode district during the next three hours. The Met Office has forecast heavy rains in all the districts from Monday. At the same time, the water level in the dams decreased as the rainfall in the catchment areas decreased.

Idukki and Kaki dams switched from red alert to orange alert yesterday. The Central Meteorological Department said extreme caution should be exercised as there is a risk of landslides and mudslides in hilly areas.

Theaters in the state will be open from Monday; Several films ready for release

Thiruvananthapuram: All the theaters in the state, which were closed due to the Covid, will be reopened from Monday. The decision was taken after discussions with the owners.

 Minister Saji Cheriyan assured that the need for tax relief would be discussed with the concerned departments and the Chief Minister.  Theater owners demanded a waiver of the fixed deposit in KSEB during the closure.

Dulquer Salman’s Kurup is the first major release to hit the theaters.  The movie will be released on November 12.  The film, which was supposed to be released by OTT, was shifted to the theatrical release.

However, a number of films are awaiting release in Malayalam, including the big-budget film ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ by Mohanlal and Priyadarshan.  Mission C, directed by Vinod Guruvayoor, and Star, starring Joju George, have been announced for release on October 29.

Two shutters of Idukki Dam were closed

Idukki: Two of the three shutters that were open were closed to regulate the water level in the Idukki Dam.  Two and four shutters were closed.  At the same time, 40,000 liters of water is flowing out every second through the third shutter of the Idukki Dam.

The shutters were closed according to the revised rule curve based on the amount of rainfall and water flow. As per today’s rule curve, the red alert level is 2398.32 feet.  The dam status has now been set to an orange alert due to the relatively low water level. A red alert was issued for the dam on Tuesday.  Three shutters were then opened.

Death toll rises to 65 in Uttarakhand

New Delhi: Death toll rises to 65 in Uttarakhand heavy rain. The bodies of three members of an 11-member team that went missing while trekking to Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh were found on Thursday. The search continues for the rest.

 The state government has said that the loss to Uttarakhand will be around Rs 10,000 crore. Transportation to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri was restored. Helicopter service to Kedarnath has also been resumed. Heavy rains continue in Darjeeling, a northern region of West Bengal.

 Seven killed in Darjeeling rains.  The state is facing heavy landslides. Tourists are stranded in many parts of the state, including several roads and the national highway. The states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand also received heavy snowfall.

Postponed PSC exam on October 28

Thiruvananthapuram:  The Kerala Public Service Commission has announced that the Engineer (Civil) examinations will be held on Thursday, October 28.  The exam was postponed due to heavy rain in the state.  Candidates can appear for the examination with the admission ticket already obtained.

 The preliminary examination for the degree level scheduled for October 23 has been postponed. The renewal date will be announced soon. There is no change to the October 30 graduation preliminary examination.

The postponed Plus One exam will be held on October 26

Thiruvananthapuram: The postponed Plus One exam will be held on October 26.  The exam, scheduled for October 18, was postponed due to heavy rains.  The Board of Higher Secondary Examinations informed that the time has not changed.

Janakikkad rape case; One more arrested

Kozhikode: Another arrested in Kozhikode Janakikkad molestation case. Mervin from Kayakodi was arrested.  Police had registered a case against Mervin.

 On the 16th of this month, a 17 – year – old Dalit girl was raped for the second time.  Mervin’s arrest was recorded in this case.  He was taken into custody yesterday.  The arrest was registered after the girl identified the accused.  Another accused Rahul has also been arrested. Currently, the police and the Women and Child Welfare Department are providing counseling to the girl.  Soyuz, Shibu, Rahul, and Akshay have been arrested so far.  The accused in the POCSO case have been remanded for 14 days.  The investigation team will file an application in the Kozhikode POCSO court today to take the accused into custody and question them.

The Nadapuram ASP is investigating the first gang rape case.  The second case registered by the Peruvannamoozhi police is being investigated by the Perambra DySP.  The girl was gang-raped for the first time on March 3.  The complainant is a 17-year-old woman from Kuttyadi.  Police have taken into custody three Kayathodi residents and one Kuttyadi resident.  One of them was in love with a girl.  The 17 – year – old girl was raped by four men who took advantage of that love.  The victim was given drugs mixed in juice.
