Five killed in an avalanche

Vienna: Five people were killed when an avalanche collapsed in Tyrol, Austria. A woman was injured. The accident took place on the border with Switzerland. Rescuers were alerted after several avalanches hit the area this week. There have been more than 50 avalanches in the last two days.

Schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh will reopen from tomorrow

Lucknow: Schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh will be reopened from Monday. Classes 9–12 in several phases will open this month at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, classes from nursery to grade eight will remain online. Open the school in compliance with all covid rules. Social distance keeping and masks will be used. The school was closed in January following the covid expansion.

Relaxations on covid controls from today

Thiruvananthapuram: Relaxations on covid controls in the state will come into effect from today. Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts, which were in the C category, got more concessions. Meanwhile, strict control will continue in the C category Kollam district. There will be restrictions similar to the lockdown tomorrow.

The exemptions were given in the context of declining disease prevalence. Theater, gym, and swimming pool are not Category C licensed. Classes 10, 11, and 12 and colleges will be open from Monday. The school will open on the 14th of this month for classes one to nine.

The Minister of Education was directed to complete the preparations before opening the schools. Currently, only the next review meeting will decide on Sunday’s change of control. Asymptomatic expatriates will no longer be tested and barred from contact.

Kochi: A woman has filed a harassment complaint against director Balachandra Kumar. The woman from Kannur had lodged a complaint with the Kochi City Police Commissioner.

He was offered a job and called to Kochi. According to the complaint, the woman was molested at the home of a lyricist in Kochi.

The incident happened ten years ago. A 40-year-old woman from Kannur came to the scene with a complaint. Balachandra Kumar has come out with revelations against Dileep in the case of attacking the actress.

The woman alleged that when she was told that she would file a complaint about the torture, he recorded the torture scenes and threatened to release the video if she complained. According to the complaint, the woman said that she felt compelled to file a complaint when she saw such a person talking on the channels for the justice of the actress.

Security forces clash with militants in Jammu and Kashmir; Two terrorists were killed

Thiruvananthapuram: The ban imposed due to the expansion of covid on places of worship on Sunday was lifted. The decision was taken at the covid review meeting. The ban was imposed on places of worship in C-category districts. Due to the lockdown on Sunday, ceremonies at places of worship were restricted. Now ceremonies can be held at places of worship on Sundays. Only 20 people will be allowed. KCBC and various Christian organizations have called on the government to lift restrictions on places of worship. The review meeting decided to propose to hold Attukal Pongala in houses and to allow only 200 people in the temple premises. Four districts have been excluded from the C category, which is currently under strict control. Kottayam, Idukki, Thiruvananthapuram, and Pathanamthitta districts were excluded. Currently, only the Kollam district is in the C category.
Colleges are scheduled to open on the 7th of this month and schools on the 14th. With the spread of the third wave of covid, classes one to nine were moved online.

Thiruvananthapuram district is now in the B category

Thiruvananthapuram: In the review meeting held today to assess the covid situation and restrictions in the state, Thiruvananthapuram district was excluded from the C category. With this, the Kollam district will be the only district to be subject to strict restrictions. Malappuram and Kozhikode are in category A. The rest of the districts are also in the B category. As it does not fall under any category, Kasargod district will have only the general covid protocol. The review meeting also discussed the possibility of fully opening schools and colleges in the state because of the declining number of covid cases.

The state government estimates that the spread of covid in the state is coming down from its peak. The government has said it will bring in more restrictions on cases as the number of cases declines. So there may be extensive concessions next week.

However, with the exemption from the C category, more concessions will be available in the Thiruvananthapuram district. With this, it will be possible to open movie theaters and gymnasiums. In Kollam, the only remaining district in the C category, however, strict restrictions will remain in place.

Quarantine of foreign arrivals waived; Testing only for those with symptoms

Thiruvananthapuram: In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, it was decided that quarantine is sufficient only if those coming from abroad have covid symptoms.
Only those with symptoms should be tested. The CM also decided that there should be no unreasonable charges for tests, including rapid tests, at airports.
Expatriates should be charged only what they can afford. The Chief Minister directed the Health Department to take necessary action in this regard.
The meeting also approved the recommendation of the Health Experts Committee to change the existing norm that international travelers should undergo RTPCR inspection on the eighth day after departure.

NEET PG exam postponed

New Delhi: NEET-PG examination has been postponed. The March 12 exam has been postponed for six to eight weeks, the health ministry said.

The apex court is set to hear a petition filed by six students seeking postponement of NEET PG exams today. Justices DY. A bench of justices Chandrachud and Suryakant will consider the petition.

The verdict on Dileep’s anticipatory bail application will be on Monday

Kochi: The verdict in the anticipatory bail application filed by actor Dileep in the case of conspiracy to assassinate the investigating officers in the case of attacking the actress was given on Monday. The case is being heard in the High Court. The court will issue its verdict on the bail application at 10.15 am on Monday.

However, Dileep told the court that he had fully co-operated with the investigation. Dileep said that Balachandra Kumar can make as many audio clips as he wants. Police were asked to confess. Despite 33 hours of questioning, police found nothing. Dileep said that if found in custody, the police would find any device with false evidence.

However, the prosecution argued in court that there was no connection between DySP Baiju Paulos and director Balachandra Kumar and that actor Dileep was not eligible for bail.
