Shooting at Philippines University; 3 people including the former mayor were killed

Manila: Three people, including the former mayor, were killed in a shooting at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. The deceased were identified as Rosita Furige, former mayor of Lambton town in Southern Basilan province, and her friend, a university security guard. The mayor had come to attend her daughter’s law graduation ceremony.

The injured daughter was admitted to the hospital. After the murder, the assailant, who tried to escape in a car with two handguns, was stopped by those present and handed over to the police.

He is a doctor. Chief Brigadier General Remus Medina, Quezon City police chief, said the reason for the killing was enmity against former mayor Rosita. The university was closed following the attack.

Double-decker buses collide on Purvanchal Expressway; Eight deaths

Lucknow:  Eight people died in a collision between double-decker buses on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. 20 people were injured.

Officials informed that the health condition of three people is critical and they have been shifted to the trauma center in Lucknow for specialist treatment. Immediately after the accident, the police and fire brigade reached the spot and led the rescue operation.

Draupadi Murmu, who arrived at Parliament in a limousine with President Ram Nath Kovind, was sworn in at a ceremony in the Central Hall of Parliament. Dignitaries including the Prime Minister were present on the occasion.

Plus one admission; the last date to apply is tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The deadline for submitting applications for Plus One admission is 5 pm tomorrow. The High Court’s order is to facilitate the application of CBSE students as well. CBSE announced class 10 and 12 exams on Friday.

Two CBSE students and their parents from Malappuram approached the High Court with a petition.
The government has taken the stand in the High Court that it cannot extend the time further. In an affidavit filed in the High Court, the government had pointed out that extending the time would disrupt the regularity of the academic year.

The allotment was made from the 27th to the 11th of the next month and the previous decision was to start the class on the 17th of the next month. 4.25 lakh students have applied so far.

Mother as single parent can be added to the birth certificate and other documents

Kochi:  The High Court said that the citizen has the right to add only the mother’s name to the birth certificate and identification documents. Justice PV Kunhikrishnan also ordered that the authorities should allow the application to make corrections to the certificate. The court considered the petition filed by the mother’s son following the harassment.

The court said that children born to victims of sexual harassment and unmarried people are also children of the nation. The court also stated that no authority can deny their rights.

Then the court ordered corrections to be made including the birth certificate as requested by the petitioner.

Monkeypox has also been confirmed in Delhi

New Delhi:  Monkeypox has been confirmed in the national capital. A 31-year-old man who is being treated at Maulana Abdul Kalam Hospital has been diagnosed with the disease. The fact that he has not traveled abroad has caused concern.

So far in India monkeypox was only in Kerala. Kollam, Kannur, and Malappuram natives who came from abroad were earlier diagnosed with the disease.

If the disease has been reported outside Kerala and a person with no history of foreign travel has become ill, the Union Health Ministry may suggest stricter surveillance and vigilance.

A global health emergency has been declared due to the spread of monkeypox. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the World Health Organization.

16,000 cases have been reported in 75 countries, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. Monkeypox, which broke out in Africa in the mid-1950s, has traveled internationally and reached the 21st century.

Gang rape at Delhi railway station; 4 employees arrested

New Delhi: A woman was gang-raped at a railway station in New Delhi. According to police, a 30-year-old woman was gang-raped in the electrical maintenance staff room of the New Delhi railway station. Police arrested four railway employees in the incident.
Police said that the woman was gang-raped at the railway station on Thursday night. Satish Kumar (35), Vinod Kumar (38), Mangalchand Meena (33) and Jagadish Chand (37) have been arrested in the case. All of them are employees of the electrical department of railways.
Two of the accused locked the woman in the room and raped her. Two others were standing guard outside the room. The woman called the police at around 3.27 am on Friday morning and reported the complaint. Then the police would investigate and arrest the accused.
The complainant has been living separately from her husband for the past one year. The woman met one of the accused two years ago through her friend. He introduced himself as a railway employee and recently promised to give the woman a job in the railways.
On July 21, he invited the woman to his house. He was invited to the house to attend his son’s birthday celebration and to celebrate the purchase of a new house. He then took the woman to the New Delhi railway station, who reached the Kirtinagar metro station around 10.30 pm on Thursday. After being brought here, the woman was taken to the electrical maintenance room. After asking her to sit in the room, he left. Police say that after a few minutes, the accused came to the room with another person and after locking the room from inside, both of them took turns to rape the woman. The other two accused in the case were standing guard outside the room at this time. The police informed that all the four accused who were produced in the court were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Lucknow: Six Kanwar devotees killed in Hathras truck collision Around 2.15 am today, the speeding truck rammed into the devotees. The Kanwar devotees were going to Gwalior from Haridwar.

Youth Congress leader arrested for stealing lakhs by forging documents

Kochi: Thrikkakara police have arrested a Youth Congress leader who stole Rs 2.40 lakh from a priest by forging a document. Muhammad Hashim Abdul Latif (29), general secretary of Youth Congress Thrikkakara constituency, was arrested. Hashim was remanded.
The money was extorted by promising to convert the 92-cent farmland of Father Geevarghese John’s mother-in-law and sister at Thrikkakara at their home in Kunnathunad Aikaranad Vallikat. By using a fake signature and seal in the name of Kanayannur Tehsildar and Village Officer, he made a receipt and cheated.

The Father Geevarghese john reached the revenue officer with this receipt after suspecting this. Then a complaint was lodged with Thrikkakara police. The police suspect that the accused used political influence to carry out these types of frauds widely. The people who bought various certificates through him are also being investigated. Ernakulam Central Police has also registered a case on the complaint of Tehsildar in the incident.

Actress assault case; More evidence against Dileep
