Bhopal: The Supreme Court has said that OBCs (other backward communities) can be given reservation in the local body elections in Madhya Pradesh. The Supreme Court has approved the report of the Madhya Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Commission and directed the State Election Commission to declare elections within a week. The government had filed an application in the court seeking a change in the Supreme Court’s 10th order this month regarding OBC reservation in local elections. In this, the verdict was in favor of the Madhya Pradesh government.
Karthi Chidambaram’s aide arrested by CBI
New Delhi: The CBI has arrested a close aide of Karthi Chidambaram, son of former Union Minister P Chidambaram, for visa fraud. S Bhaskar Raman was arrested by the CBI. The arrests came after the CBI raided the residences and offices of Chidambaram and Karthi Chidambaram. He was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to obtain Indian visas for 263 Chinese nationals. Bhaskar Ram was arrested late on Tuesday night. CBI officials said Bhaskar Raman was not cooperating in the investigation and was arrested. Bhaskar Ram will be produced in court soon, officials added.
China provokes Arunachal Pradesh again: Reports say construction is underway
New Delhi: China has made provocative efforts against India in the wake of covid epidemic increases in China. An Indian military spokesman has said that China is carrying out construction work on the Arunachal Pradesh border. The Commanding Officer-in-Chief of the Eastern Command General RP Kalita said that China was carrying out construction work on the border with Arunachal Pradesh to connect road, rail, and air transport to the border. He added that he had received information that construction work on the 5G mobile network was underway.
Earlier in November, satellite images of about 60 buildings erected in the area were released. In January, a satellite image of a village with about 100 houses built within the Arunachal Pradesh border was released. China claims Arunachal Pradesh is part of southern Tibet. But Kalitha said all the necessary equipment was in place to counter the Chinese move.

The appointment follows the resignation of current Prime Minister Jean-Castes. Jean Castes’ resignation comes ahead of Macron’s move to make a major cabinet reshuffle after the election. Earlier, Macron had said that he wanted a woman from the left and an environmentalist to be prime minister.
Elizabeth Borneo has been Minister of Labor in the Macron Cabinet since 2020. He also served as Minister of Transport and Minister of Environmental Transformation. Earlier, in 1992, a woman Prime Minister came to power for the first time in the country. Her name was Edith Cresson. She served only from May 1991 to April 1992.
Shigella bacteria detected in Kasargod well water
Kasaragod: Shigella bacteria was found in well water in Kasaragod Cheruvathur. Shigella was found in five samples sent for testing by the Food Safety Department. It was here that the girl died after eating shawarma earlier.
A total of 30 samples were sent for testing. In 23 of these, the presence of bacteria was detected. Samples were collected from food outlets, including hotels in Cheruvathur. The DMO has called an emergency meeting of district health officials following the detection of the bacteria.
The presence of E. coli bacteria was also confirmed in 12 samples. Water samples were collected and sent for testing on the fourth of this month.
It has already been confirmed that Shigella bacteria can cause food poisoning in people who eat shawarma. In this case, the health department decided to conduct further tests.
Two indigenous leading warships were launched

New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has launched two major warships of the Indian Navy – the Surat and the Udayagiri – at the Majjagawa Docks Limited in Mumbai. ‘Surat’ is the fourth guided-missile destroyer in the P15B series. Udayagiri is the second stealth frigate in the P17A range. Both warships were self-designed by the Directorate of Naval Design (DND) and built at MDL, Mumbai.
Speaking on the occasion, the Defense Minister said that INS Udayagiri and INS Surat are shining examples of India’s growing indigenous potential. These will be the world’s best missile carrier warships based on the latest technology.
Vlogger Rifa Mehnu died due to suicide: Post-mortem report out
Kozhikode: Postmortem report states that Vlogger Rifa Mehnu committed suicide. According to the report, Rifa was hanged and the death was confirmed by a hanging mark on his neck. The post-mortem report was handed over to the investigation team. The results of the chemical examination of the internal organs are yet to be obtained.
Rifa’s family approached the court stating that the death was mysterious and suspected to be a murder, and the body was exhumed and postmortem performed. The family said Rifa would never commit suicide.
Rifa was found hanged on the night of March 1 in her flat in Jafalia, Dubai. The body was first found by her husband Mehnaz, who had gone out with friends and returned. Rifa lived with her husband Mehnaz.

Thiruvananthapuram: Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian will officially announce and name the OTT platform prepared by KSFDC for the state government. The event will be held at 10 am on Wednesday at the Kalabhavan Theater, Thiruvananthapuram.
Kerala is the first state in India to set up an OTT system under the Government. It is a state-of-the-art streaming system that ensures transparency and allows the filmmaker to earn revenue according to the number of viewers. The platform operates on a pay-per-view basis, paying only for films selected by the audience. Steps are in progress to start operations from November 1.
Actress assault case; Dileep’s friend Sarath arrested

Kochi: Dileep’s friend and businessman Sarath was arrested in the actress assault case. Sarath was arrested for destroying evidence. This is the first arrest in the ongoing investigation. The investigation team had found that the VIP in the case was Sarath. According to the crime branch, it was Sarath who took the footage of the attack on Dileep’s house.
Meanwhile, Dileep’s lawyers will be prosecuted in the case for trying to endanger the investigating officers in the case of attacking the actress. Lawyers Philip Varghese and Sujesh will be charged in the case of attempting to destroy evidence on the phone. Cyber expert Sai Shankar had said that the lawyers had tried to destroy the evidence. Indications are that the lawyers may be included in the list of defendants when the charge sheet is filed in the case.
NEET 2022: The deadline for registration has been extended
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has again postponed the deadline for registration for the Medical Entrance Examination – NEET 2022. The application process, which was scheduled to end on May 6, was extended to May 15. Currently, the deadline has been extended to May 20, officials said. Candidates were asked to postpone the exam till August but the NTA had decided to hold it on July 17 itself.
The NTA says the deadline has been extended to allow BSc nursing candidates more time to fill out the form. Earlier, only MBBS and BDS courses were required to appear for the exams. Now it has been extended to nursing courses as well. Because of the request received from the Office of the Director-General of the Armed Forces Medical Services, the authorities have decided to extend the deadline for submission of application forms for NEET (UG) – 2022.
