Currently available reports are that Ajith will go to Facebook’s ‘rival’ social media platform Snapchat.”Ajit has decided to step down from his role at Facebook to pursue another opportunity outside of Meta Company,” Nicola Mendelson, vice president of Meta Global Business Group, said in a statement.
 Ajit Mohan started as the Managing Director of Facebook India in January 2019. In the two years that Ajith Mohan was the director, the number of users of WhatsApp and Instagram from India has increased by more than 200 million, according to reports.
Before joining Facebook Meta, Ajit Mohan was the Chief Executive Officer of Star India’s video streaming service Hotstar. He was the CEO of Hotstar for four years.

Bribery is also an offense, Supreme Court says ED has the power to take action

New Delhi: Supreme Court says that ED can also take action against those who give bribes. The court directed that the ED can file a case against the bribe payers under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

Bribery is also an offense under the Prevention of Corruption Act and falls under the purview of the PMLA, the court said. The Supreme Court issued the order on a petition filed by the ED Chennai Zonal Office.

At the same time, the Supreme Court had ordered to take strict action against those who conduct two-finger tests in rape cases. The action was based on the observation that the two-finger test is re-victimizing the survivors. Stating that the test has no scientific basis, the court directed that it be removed from the curriculum of medical colleges. The order came from a bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are on alert.

He has been charged with trespassing and attempted theft. Santosh was arrested in the Kuravankonam case. In the subsequent questioning, it became clear that he is also the accused in the case of assaulting a female doctor in the museum premises. Interrogation in the case is ongoing.

Last Wednesday, the woman was sexually assaulted at the museum premises. The woman’s statement said that a bearded man who came in a car on Wednesday morning attacked her. After stopping the vehicle at LMS Junction, the accused came walking and attacked the woman. After this, the accused escaped by jumping over the museum gate. The accused Santhosh Kumar is a temporary driver in the Water Authority.

Governor’s show cause notice is illegal; VCs approached High Court

Kochi: VCs approached the High Court. Seven VCs approached the High Court questioning the Chancellor’s show cause notice. The High Court will consider the petition today.

The VCs say in the petition that the chancellor has no power to ask for reasons for not expelling. Dismissal can only be done if an investigation is carried out and the wrongdoing is found. Therefore, the Chancellor’s show cause notice is illegal. The VCs also demand the cancellation of this notice.

Meanwhile, the High Court will today reconsider the petition filed by 15 members challenging Governor Arif Muhammad Khan’s decision to expel him from the Kerala University Senate.

Indian citizenship for non-Muslim minorities from 3 countries

New Delhi: The central government has decided to grant Indian citizenship to minorities who have migrated from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Citizenship is granted to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians settled in two districts of Gujarat. Notably, it has been granted under the Citizenship Act, 1955, instead of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA).

According to a notification by the Union Home Ministry, District Collectors are authorized to grant Indian citizenship under Section 5 to Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian immigrants residing in Anand and Mehsana districts of Gujarat. Such people residing in these two districts of Gujarat should submit their applications online. These will be checked by the Collector at the district level.

The application and its reports are simultaneously accessible online by the central government. The Collector will conduct an inquiry for the necessary verifications as to whether the applicant is eligible for citizenship. They are forwarded to institutions for verification. After all these procedures, if the Collector is satisfied that the applicant is suitable, he will be issued an Indian citizenship or naturalization certificate.

Thiruvananthapuram: Warning of heavy rains in the state today. Thulam Varsha will be stronger in southern districts and central Kerala. The Central Meteorological Department has announced a yellow alert in six districts of the state today. Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts are on yellow alert.


As part of the Libra monsoon, northeasterly winds become stronger over the Bay of Bengal and South India. A cyclonic vortex is also located in the southwestern Bay of Bengal over the northern Sri Lankan coast. There is also a low-pressure area extending from Cyclone Cyclone over Kerala and Tamil Nadu to the Southeast Arabian Sea.

As a result of all this, the Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of widespread rain in Kerala till November 4. The Central Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy thundershowers/rainfall at isolated places. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast.

Thiruvananthapuram: The gas booking method has been changed in the state from today. Changes like KYC, OTP, and GST code for policies will come into effect from 1.

KYC for policies
KYC is mandatory for insurance policies. IRDA makes KYC mandatory for all health and general insurance policies.

OTP for Gas
From November 1, customers will have to hand over the OTP while delivering LPG cylinders to their doorsteps. Users will get an OTP number while booking LPG cylinders. The OTP is issued to the customer’s authorized phone.

Code for GST
Taxpayers with turnover less than Rs 5 crore must enter HSN code in GST return. HSN code is a four-digit number.

‘Siddiq Kapan had links with Popular Front, went to Hathras to destroy religious harmony’: Court

Lucknow:  The Lucknow court found that Malayali journalist Siddique Kappan, who was arrested after the Hathras incident, had links with the banned organization Popular Front. The reference is in the order rejecting Siddique Kappan’s bail plea in the ED case. The court also pointed out that Kappan went to Hatras to destroy religious harmony.

Maintained regular contact with PFI officers and attended PFI meetings. Financial transactions were made for terrorism. The money transfers made to the accounts of the co-accused are also for terrorism. The court also observed that Kappan left for Hathras as part of a conspiracy to destroy religious harmony.

While going to report the Hathras incident, Kappan was caught by the UP Police on October 7, 2020. Masood Ahmed, Siddique Kappan, Atiqur Rahman and Mohammad were arrested. Although the Supreme Court granted bail in the UAPA case, Kappan could not be released as he was not granted bail in the ED case.
