Thiruvananthapuram:  The orange alert issued today in all the districts has been withdrawn as the heavy rains in the state have eased slightly. Yellow alert has been issued in all the districts due to the possibility of heavy rains.

No orange alert has been declared in any district tomorrow. Yellow alert in all districts. However, the Central Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to go fishing off the coast of Kerala until further notice as heavy rains are likely.

Meanwhile, the state has forecast isolated heavy rains in the coming days. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts.
The government has asked people to be extra vigilant in the light of their past experiences of flood damage. A special control room was opened in the office of the Minister of Revenue. In case of an emergency, people can call the control room for help.
Thrissur Peringalkuthu dam opened due to high water level. All 15 shutters of the Bhootthankett Dam were opened. The Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has warned people living in low-lying and hilly areas to be extra vigilant as the rains continue. Fishermen are advised to heed the weather warning as wind speeds can reach 40 to 55 kmph. Currently, fishing is banned along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast.

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has said that food security licenses will be made compulsory in the state. She said all shops should display toll-free numbers.

Institutions must obtain a Food Safety Registration / License within three months. The toll-free number of the Food Safety Department should be displayed in all food establishments. Food safety inspections will be tightened. The Food safety inspection is very important ahead of the monsoon season. The food safety sector is of paramount importance for the prevention of infectious diseases. The food safety calendar needs to be updated promptly. The Minister said that the public will have the facility to upload complaints along with photos.
There should be no reason to stop the food safety inspection after a while. Regular inspections should be performed. Strict measures should be taken. Closed shops will be open according to exact criteria. The inspection should be analyzed at the state level every month. Awareness programs should also be strengthened. Must have at least one member of an organization trained to meet the criteria set by FSSAI. They need to train others. All levels of food items should be inspected. The minister said the officers would seek police protection during emergencies during the inspection.

Kasaragod: Shigella bacteria was found in well water in Kasaragod Cheruvathur. Shigella was found in five samples sent for testing by the Food Safety Department. It was here that the girl died after eating shawarma earlier.
A total of 30 samples were sent for testing. In 23 of these, the presence of bacteria was detected. Samples were collected from food outlets, including hotels in Cheruvathur. The DMO has called an emergency meeting of district health officials following the detection of the bacteria.

The presence of E. coli bacteria was also confirmed in 12 samples. Water samples were collected and sent for testing on the fourth of this month.
It has already been confirmed that Shigella bacteria can cause food poisoning in people who eat shawarma. In this case, the health department decided to conduct further tests.
