Murder of a foreign woman in Kovalam; Imprisonment till death for the accused

Thiruvananthapuram: In the case of rape and murder of a foreign woman in Kovalam, the accused were sentenced to life imprisonment. The verdict is that of Thiruvananthapuram First Class Additional District Sessions Court. The Thiruvananthapuram Additional Sessions Court announced life imprisonment based on finding the accused Umesh and Udayakumar guilty. Punishment was given for crimes like murder, rape, drug use, and destruction of evidence.

Liga, a Latvian woman, had come to Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment. They went missing from Pothencode on March 14, 2018. After 35 days, the decomposed body was recovered from the forest near Kovalam. The case is that the woman was brought to a deserted forest here and then raped after being given ganja and then strangled to death.

The prosecution had sought maximum punishment for the accused. A special team headed by Thiruvananthapuram Range IG Manoj Abraham investigated the case and arrested the accused.

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Kochupreman passed away. He was 68 years old. He died in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram while undergoing treatment for a lung ailment. Due to physical discomfort, he was admitted to the hospital in the afternoon. He was active in comedy roles and character roles for a long time. Acted in more than 250 films. He was active in theater before coming to cinema. He has also acted in serials.

He was born on June 1, 1955 to Sivarama Shastri and Kamalam in Peyad village of Valappil panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district. Kochupreman completed his primary education at Peyad Govt. School and graduated from MG College, Thiruvananthapuram.

He has been active in theater since his childhood. He directed a play for the first time in the 8th standard. The drama was taken seriously when it was part of the play Jwalamukhi by Jagathi NK Achari. Then he became a part of the famous drama societies of Thiruvananthapuram.

Correct name is K S Premkumar. The name Kochupreman was adopted because a friend with the same name was in the drama committee. Ezhu Nirangal is the first movie. After a long hiatus, he is acting in director Rajasen’s Dilliwala Rajakumaran. He later acted in Irattakkuttikalude Achan. He then played many notable roles in the film. Serial actress Girija is the wife: son: Harikrishnan.

Thrissur: Father arrested for sexually assaulting daughters. He was arrested from Kunnamkulam, Thrissur. Fourteen and 16-year-old girls were sexually assaulted.

He threatened not to speak out about this. The children could not tolerate the harassment and told the teachers. The accused was arrested during the investigation conducted by the Kunnamkulam police.

New Delhi: ED questioned Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi in a money laundering case. ED action in the case involving Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Meanwhile, the actress denied the report that she had received gifts from Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

This is the third case involving actress Nora Fatehi in the Rs. 200 crore black money case involving Sukesh Chandrasekhar. ED’s question was about relationships with Sukesh, WhatsApp chat etc. According to the ED, Nora Fateh and Jacqueline Fernandez received luxury cars and other expensive gifts from con man Chandrasekhar.

Meanwhile, the actress came out after questioning and denied this. Earlier, the finance department of the ED filed a charge sheet against actress Jacqueline Fernandez in this case.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bagal’s Deputy Secretary Soumya Chaurasya arrested in coal mining scam case. It is reported that various central agencies have been interrogating Soumya for the past two months.

Soumya Chaurasia was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after being summoned for questioning. The case alleges that an additional tax of Rs. 25 per tonne of coal transported from Chhattisgarh was illegally levied and the money was stolen.

Their house and other places were also raided. The ED also arrested her under the Money Laundering Act, of 2002. But Congress criticized the case as politically motivated.

Delhi Liquor Policy Scam; CBI probe into Telangana

New Delhi: CBI investigation in Delhi liquor policy corruption case to Telangana. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kavitha will be questioned by the CBI. CBI will take Kavita’s statement on the 6th of this month at her residence in Hyderabad. Kavitha is also a senior leader of TRS.

15 people, including Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, are on the CBI’s charge sheet in the case. Sisodia was not named in the charge sheet filed by both the agencies in the court in the case being investigated by ED and CBI. Kavitha received the CBI notice when the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which became the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, was entering national politics.

The CBI move comes amid Telangana Police’s investigation into Operation Lotus. The Telangana police probe reached BJP organization general secretary BL Santhosh and BDJS president Tushar Vellapally.

Palakkad: A tribal youth was killed in a wild elephant attack in Attappadi Sholayur.Elephant killed Lakshmanan of Oothukuzhi. The attack took place in front of the house. ISRO espionage case: Supreme Court rejects bail plea of four people including Siby Mathews

New Delhi: The Supreme Court quashed the anticipatory bail plea of four accused, including the former Director General of Police (DGP), in the 1994 ISRO espionage case. The court transferred the case back to the Kerala High Court to consider their anticipatory bail pleas individually. A bench comprising Justices MR Shah and CT Ravikumar also directed the CBI not to arrest former Gujarat DGP RB Sreekumar, two former Kerala police officers and a retired intelligence officer for five weeks.

The Supreme Court gave its verdict on a petition filed by the CBI seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail of former IB Deputy Director RB Sreekumar, former DGP Siby Mathews, S Vijayan, Thambi S Durga Dutt and PS Jayaprakash.

Additional Solicitor General S V Raju appeared for the CBI. Kapil Sibal appeared for RB Sreekumar, Joji Skaria for CB Mathews and Kaliswaram Raj for PS Jayaprakash. “Ultimately it is up to the High Court to pass the orders. The High Court was directed to dispose of anticipatory bail applications as soon as possible within four weeks of this order.

Raipur: Seven people died in a mine accident in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar. The police and the SDRF team reached the spot and the rescue operation is in progress. Six of the seven dead are women, officials said. Villagers have been evacuated from the incident site.
