Santiago: A forest fire in the South American country of Chile has claimed the lives of 23 people. Small and big forest fires are burning in 76 places. Extreme summers and heat have added to the spread of wildfires. The government extended the state of emergency to various places in the country. 979 people were injured in the forest fire. 1100 people have been shifted to relief camps. In addition to Biobio and Nuble regions, the state of emergency has also been extended to Araucania in the southern region. Home Affairs Minister Karolina Toha said adverse weather conditions are delaying forest fire control. The temperature is above 40 degrees Celsius.

Many houses and farms have been destroyed in the forest fire. Areas where apple, grape and berry orchards are located are the most affected. Countries like the US, Spain, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil and Venezuela have offered help to put out the forest fires.

US shot down Chinese spy balloon

Washington:  After President Joe Biden’s permission, the United States shot down a Chinese spy balloon that entered the US sky. The US military shot down the spy balloon with a missile from fighter jets as it entered the Atlantic Ocean near the coast of South Carolina.

On Saturday afternoon, the wreckage of the balloon, which fell into the sea, will be recovered and examined. The balloon was first spotted entering US airspace on January 28. Following this, the U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has also postponed his visit to China next week.

The U.S. had previously considered shooting down the balloon, but decided against it because of the risk to people’s lives. The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday that the balloon belonged to China.

China has announced an investigation after allegations that a Chinese spy balloon was found in American airspace. China has also stated that it does not want to encroach on the territory of a sovereign country or encroach on its independence.

Guwahati: Huge stockpile of arms and ammunition recovered from Assam’s Nalbari. They were recovered in a joint operation by teams of Central Reserve Police Force and Assam Police.

Based on intelligence information, the search was conducted in a forest area near Sengnoi village. Security agencies recovered 4 pistols, 2 air pistols, 7 assorted magazines, 107 rounds, 79 AK 47, 5 detonators, 4 live ammunition and 600 grams of unknown substance suspected to be explosives.

The arsenal was buried underground. Nalbari District Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh said that there is information that more weapons have been buried by the militants.

Koodathai Case; There is no presence of cyanide in the remains, the forensic report is out

Kochi:  The results of the forensic examination of the Koodathai murder series have come out. The presence of cyanide was not detected in the remains of the deceased Annamma Thomas, Tom Thomas, Manjadiyl Mathew, and Alfine. The prosecution received the test results from the National Forensic Lab, Hyderabad. The inspection was done with the permission of the court. Previous tests on the remains of these four men had not found traces of cyanide. Then again with the permission of the court, it was sent to the central forensic lab.

They were killed in the period from 2002 to 2014. In 2019, their remains were taken out and sent for examination. The prosecution case is that Jolly, the first accused, killed Annamma Thomas by using dog kill poison and three others by giving cyanide. The presence of cyanide in the bodies of Roy Thomas and Seeley was confirmed earlier. The Special Additional Sessions Court at Eranhipalam is hearing the case of Koothtai murder. The trial in the Roy Thomas case will begin next month.

Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf passed away

Islamabad: Former President of Pakistan General (retd) Pervez Musharraf (79) passed away. Geo News reported quoting hospital sources that he died at a hospital in Dubai on Sunday. Musharraf was undergoing treatment at the American Hospital in Dubai.

Musharraf was born on 11 August 1943 in Delhi and completed his primary education at St. Patrick’s High School, Karachi. The former president did his higher education at Foreman Christian College, Lahore.

Musharraf was declared a fugitive in former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination case and the Red Mosque priest’s murder case. The former president, who has lived in Dubai since 2016, faces sedition charges for suspending the constitution in 2007.

The former military ruler went to Dubai in March 2016 for treatment and never returned.

Musharraf’s family said in a Twitter message that he was admitted to the hospital due to complications from a condition called amyloidosis.

He was promoted to four-star general by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1998, and Musharraf rose to national prominence after making him the head of the armed forces. Musharraf led the 1999 Kargil incursion that led to the war between India and Pakistan.

In 2020, the Lahore High Court declared all actions taken by the Nawaz Sharif government against Musharraf as ‘unconstitutional’.

In 2019, a special court sentenced him to death. Musharraf came to power in 1999 through a coup defeat, ousting the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Faced with impeachment following the 2008 election, Musharraf was forced to resign as president and went into self-imposed exile in Dubai.

A case against former cricketer Vinod Kambli

Mumbai: A case has been filed against former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli for beating his wife after being drunk. The drunk actor beat up his wife at a flat in Bandra on Friday. According to the police, he was hit on the head with a pan used for cooking.

Kambli’s wife, Andrea Hewitt, filed a complaint. Based on this, a case has been registered against Kambli under sections 324 and 504 of the IPC, Bandra police said. The complaint also says that Kambli, who was drunk, uttered obscenities. His wife sought treatment at the hospital for a head injury. In the complaint, Vinod Kambli’s wife alleged that she and her son were being tortured for no reason. The wife complains that after hitting her with a pan, she was also beaten with a cricket bat.

Vinod Kambli was arrested by the Mumbai police even before he broke into the gate of the housing society.

Those leading the constructions claim that the construction is being done with the permission of the Panangad Panchayat on the land allotted by the government to the Usha School of Athletics at Balussery Kinalur in Kozhikode. She told the media in Delhi that the construction poses a major security threat to sports students.

The center includes a hostel, synthetic track, multi-gym and an upcoming swimming pool. It is situated on a 30 acre land allotted at Balusheri Kinalur, Kozhikode during the Oommen Chandy government. I have all the documents. Around 25 students are currently undergoing training here.

Witchcraft as the treatment of Pneumonia; 3-month-old baby dies in Bhopal

Bhopal: A toddler died after being subjected to witchcraft to cure pneumonia. The incident took place in Shahdol, a tribal region in Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports, the baby’s parents sought the help of a sorcerer to get rid of the pneumonia-stricken baby.
The baby was then taken to Shahdol Medical College in Madhya Pradesh in critical condition. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities said that apart from pneumonia, severe burns caused the baby’s death.
The hospital authorities added that the baby’s stomach was stabbed 51 times with a metal rod.

15 days ago, the child was subjected to cruel witchcraft. The incident came to light when the women and child welfare officials arrived at the hospital. The Collector said that an investigation has been initiated into the incident and a case will be registered against the woman who practiced witchcraft. The body of the cremated baby will be exhumed and a post-mortem will be conducted today.

A CRPF jawan, a security guard at the intelligence chief’s residence, committed suicide

New Delhi: A 53-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) assistant sub-inspector committed suicide at the residence of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) director in Delhi. Police said on Saturday that he shot himself dead with his service gun.

Delhi Police said on preliminary investigation, Rajbir Kumar (53) fired two rounds from his service revolver at the IB director’s residence under Tughlaq Road police station limits around 4.15 pm on Friday.

Police said that Rajbir Kumar’s body has been sent for post-mortem and things will be clear only after the report.
Investigators said that no suicide note was found at the scene.

The District Forensic Crime Team has been called to recover fingerprints from the spot. Police are investigating the reason behind the incident. Rajbir Kumar is a native of Madhya Pradesh. The family was informed and inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC were initiated.

According to available data, 123 CRPF jawans committed suicide in 2017, 96 in 2018, 129 in 2019, 137 in 2020, and 153 in 2021 in the paramilitary wing.
