Stockholm: Norwegian writer Jon Fosse has won the Nobel Prize for literature. Academy Secretary Mats Mamm announced the award with the remark that Fosse’s plays and prose have become the voice of the voiceless. The Academy said that Fosse’s writings are deeply marked by human curiosity and conflicting emotions.
Sixty-four-year-old Fosse was born in Norway in 1950. So far 40 plays have been composed. Apart from these, he has proved his ability in many articles, poems, novels, children’s literature and translation. He first wrote a novel called Red and Black which was released in 1983. The books Boathouse, Melancholy and Septology are famous.
For the past few years, Fosse has been on the list of possible winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature. Last year, the literary award went to French writer Anne Ernox. The prize money is 11 million Swedish kroner.

Anandan’s unwavering support for the workers led him to resign from his job as a ticket examiner in the railways, fully dedicating himself to the cause.
Anandan’s involvement in the trade union movement started with the organization of rope workers, a testament to his commitment to uplifting the working class. His efforts did not go unnoticed, and in 1956, he joined the Communist Party, aligning himself with a movement that resonated deeply with his values.
Throughout his career, Anandan held various significant positions within the CPM, including District Committee Member, General Secretary of the Travancore Coir Workers Union, and Joint Secretary of the Kerala Coir Workers Center. His dedication and leadership skills were recognized, and in 1972, he became the secretary of the Kerala Coir Workers’ Center, further solidifying his influence within the party.
Anandan’s impact extended beyond the political sphere, as he successfully contested and won elections from the Attingal Assembly Constituency in 1987, 1996, and 2001. His ability to connect with the people and address their concerns made him a beloved representative of the community.

With the help of GPS connected in mobile phone, the exact details of the emergency location will be send to the ambulance. The minister also informed that the mobile app will be available this month.
7,89,830 trips has been completed after 4 years of starting Kaniv 108 ambulance scheme in the state. Out of this, 3,45,867 trips are related to Covid and 198 trips are related to Nipah. So far 90 deliveries have been attended to by this ambulance. At present 316 ambulances and 1300 personnel are part of the project.
Thiruvananthapuram district has the highest number of trips with 108 ambulances. 1,17,668 trips were run here. Idukki district has the lowest -23,006 trips.
Kochi: The accused was sentenced to double life in the case of taking a plus two student to Valpara and raped her to death. The Ernakulam POCSO Court passed the sentence. The court had earlier found the accused guilty in the case. Accused has been found guilty of rape and pregnancy of a minor girl, murder, etc. In the case of murdering a 17-year-old student in a school in Kochi, the accused, a native of Nettur, was sentenced to double life imprisonment.

After conducting the investigation, the accused tried to escape in a car through Pollachi and was taken into custody by the police on the day of the incident. After questioning him, the body of the girl was recovered from the coffee plantation in Malakappara.
Gangtok: The number of people who lost their lives in cloudburst and lightning floods in Sikkim has reached 5. 23 soldiers also went missing in the incident. The Teesta River in Lachen Valley of Sikkim was flooded following a cloudburst over Lonak Lake in North Sikkim. The customs department apprehended him and informed Kanhangad DYSP. A lookout notice had been issued for him previously. The Ernakulam police will also be investigating the harassment complaint against Shiyas. Chantera police have arrived in Ernakulam to conduct their investigation.
The Chantera police have registered a case against Shiyas based on the complaint of a Patanna native who is a trainer at the gym. The complaint alleges that money was stolen and encroached upon. The 32-year-old divorced woman claims that she was subjected to torture from 2021 to March 2023 at a lodge in Ernakulam and Munnar, where she was given a wedding song. Shiyas Karim was reportedly preparing for another marriage when the woman came forward to file the complaint. The complaint further states that Rs 11 lakh was extorted from the woman on multiple occasions, with encroachment taking place at Cheruvathur.
The investigation team will conduct a thorough inquiry into these allegations. In response to the harassment complaint, Shiyas himself took to social media to disclose information about his upcoming marriage and even shared pictures of the engagement.
