CBI files chargesheet against Walayar girls deaths

0

Kochi: The CBI has filed a chargesheet against the death of the minor girls in Walayar. The investigation team has ruled out the possibility of murder in the chargesheet filed in the CBI court in Kochi. Earlier, the Palakkad trial court had rejected the finding that the girls’ deaths were suicide.

The CBI has assessed that the living conditions of the children and brutal sexual abuse are likely to lead to suicide. The CBI has made its findings based on the post-mortem reports and circumstantial evidence. The CBI has also cited the police surgeon’s report in the chargesheet. After studying the crime scene, inquest photos, and follow-up reports, the police surgeon’s conclusion that the death was likely due to hanging is also highlighted in the chargesheet.

Although the youngest child was only nine years old, there is still a possibility of suicide. The complex family background, childhood experiences, sexual abuse, and a childhood without adequate care may have led the children to suicide. The charge sheet also mentions the forensic findings that there is no possibility of murder in the case.

The CBI had found that the mother was also involved in sexually abusing the girls. The investigation team had stated that the first accused had sexual intercourse with the mother in front of the children and that the younger child was subjected to unnatural sexual abuse with the mother’s knowledge. The CBI, which took over the investigation on a petition filed by the children’s mother against the state police investigation, filed a charge sheet naming the mother as the second accused and the father as the third accused.
