Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister Antony Raju has announced that the quarterly tax payment date for goods vehicles starting July 1, 2021, has been extended to September 30. Freight workers and vehicle owners in the freight sector have been in financial crisis for a year now due to a lockdown announced by the government as part of the fight against the covid-19 epidemic.
The last date for payment of tax on goods vehicles taxable from July 1, 2021, was July 31. About one lakh vehicle owners are yet to pay taxes. The minister said that this would also alleviate the liability of the owners of goods vehicles who are unable to pay the tax on time.
