Panaji: Journalist and former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has been acquitted in a rape case. He was acquitted by a sessions court in Goa. In 2013, a co-worker was sexually assaulted in a hotel elevator.
After the verdict, Tarun Tejpal thanked the court for the tough and impartial trial.
Tarun Tejpal was arrested on November 30, 2013, in connection with the case. He was later released on bail. Tarun was charged with rape and sexual assault.
In February 2014, the Goa Police Crime Branch filed a 2,846-page charge sheet. During the trial, which was filmed on camera, the prosecution cross-examined 71 witnesses and cross-examined five witnesses.
