Supreme Court said that PG from open universities without basic degree is not valid for employment

New Delhi:  The Supreme Court held that postgraduate certificate candidates obtained from Open University without studying the basic degree course are not valid for employment. Dismissing the petition, a bench comprising Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Sanjay Karol pointed out that this had been pointed out in another case earlier. The court had earlier clarified this in a similar case related to Annamalai University.

A candidate who applied for a job through Tamil Nadu PSC approached the court with the petition. Post graduation is the qualification to apply for the job. Although the petitioner had not pursued an undergraduate course, he had completed his post-graduation from the Open University. He approached the Supreme Court after the Madras High Court dismissed the candidate’s petition.
