SIMI ban extended for five years

New Delhi: The central government has extended the ban on terrorist organization SIMI for another five years.  Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance that there will be no compromise against terrorism, SIMI has been banned for another five years under UAPA.

The Center had filed a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court defending the ban.  The affidavit states that SIMI’s aim to bring in an Islamic state is a direct attack on the country and the constitution.
