Mumbai: E-commerce companies have been cleared to sell non-essential items online. The government has approved the sale of products to the locals. Accordingly, online portals, including Flipkart and Amazon, can be distributed to Orange and Green Zones, including electronic devices. The country’s 733 districts are divided into three categories. The zones are red, orange, and green. The category will be reviewed once a week to assess the status of zones. Since the announcement of the lockdown, the government has placed restrictions on the operations of e-commerce companies. The supply of essential commodities was stopped. The sale of electronic devices was mainly through e-commerce portals. The lockdown was a big fall in the company’s revenue. The center had allowed e-commerce firms to sell non-essential items but the order was frozen due to opposition from small and medium sellers. Amazon said it welcomed the government’s decision to grant the sale. When the results of the first quarter of the calendar year were released, it was evident that the company had suffered a severe setback from India.
