The month of September is packed with an array of movies from diverse languages, and out of the 13 major releases, Salaar and Jawan are the most highly anticipated and hyped films.
Get ready for an epic month of cinematic greatness! September 2023 is set to unleash a slew of highly anticipated films that have been generating buzz and excitement within both audiences and the film industry. As a film enthusiast, I have created a comprehensive list of the eight major big releases of September from the most hyped which will give you the idea and details to know before you book the tickets. So, get your calendars out and mark the date for the film that has piqued your interest the most, let’s go into detail.
1: Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire
Salaar is unequivocally my top choice, and I can confidently assert that among my top 7 best picks, Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire reigns supreme as the most highly anticipated movie of the year. This is due to the unparalleled star power of Pan-Indian Superstar Prabhas and the clever direction of the passionate filmmaker Prashanth Neel. Ever since the announcement, I have been eagerly awaiting to witness Salaar on the big screen, and I am expecting nothing short of an electrifying theatre experience, much like the one I had with KGF. With its explosive and high-octane action, Salaar is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats. And like everyone else, I am eagerly anticipating whether Salaar will be connected to the KGF Franchise.
According to the latest update provided by film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan on August 30th, the film Salaar, featuring Prabhas, has surpassed the $500,000 (Rs 4.14 crores) milestone in overseas box office collections. It’s a record figure in the overseas market and on September 6th the trailer of Salaar will hit YouTube and I’m sure the hype is going to be even larger. September 28th is the scheduled release date of Salaar and the movie will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages.
2: Jawan:
Get ready for another action-packed blockbuster from the King of Bollywood himself, Shah Rukh Khan! After the massive success of Pathaan, SRK is back with Jawan, directed by the hitmaker Atlee. When news broke that SRK and Atlee were teaming up, I was completely shocked – but in the best way possible! Atlee is known for his commercial filmmaking style and has previously delivered super hits with Thalapathy Vijay. Now, he’s bringing his magic to SRK’s latest venture, and I can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up for us.
Jawan is set to release on September 7th in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages, and it’s already one of the most hyped movies of this year. The teaser had us all on the edge of our seats, and now that the trailer is out, the hype has only intensified. As a die-hard SRK fan, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Jawan, and I’m sure I’m not alone. In fact, according to sacnilk.com, the overseas collection of Jawan has already surpassed the $200,000 mark, with advance bookings contributing to a total of $210,400 as of August 28th. That’s a testament to the star power of SRK and the excitement surrounding this movie. Will the SRK-Atlee combo work? We’ll have to wait and see until September 7th.
3: Kushi
The announcement of Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu teaming up for a sizzling romantic flick called Kushi has sent shockwaves across the internet. I was thrilled to hear about this and my excitement reached new heights when I discovered that the film would be directed by the talented Shiva Nirvana. The interesting fact is Kushi will be a crucial film for Vijay Deverakonda, and Samantha and also for the director because their previous film had terribly failed to perform well at the box-office.
The advance booking in the Telugu states is in full swag and the movie will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The teaser and trailer of the film had got an overwhelming response and the songs are already in the hit chart. So, I hope Kushi will offer a grand comeback for the three of them and the movie will be released on September 1st.
4: Chandramukhi 2
Chandramukhi 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2005 blockbuster of the same name, is set to grace the silver screen this month. Starring the popular Raghava Lawrence and the gorgeous Kangana Ranaut as the main leads, this cinematic masterpiece is directed by the visionary director P. Vasu, who previously directed the original Chandramukhi. The music for this comedy horror movie is being composed by none other than the illustrious Oscar Award-winning music director M. M. Keervani.
Till now the hype of the movie stands on an average scale but the Tamil audience is abuzz with excitement for this upcoming release, and the teaser or trailer has yet to be unveiled. However, I think that once the trailer or teaser is released, the movie will attain the much-required hype it deserves. The release date for this Chandramukhi 2 is set for September 15th, and I am eagerly anticipating its performance at the box-office.
5: Mark Antony:
It’s been a bumpy ride for actor Vishal lately, with his recent films not quite hitting the mark with audiences and box-office. He had high hopes for his previous flick, Latti, but even that one fell short of expectations and failed to create an impact in the box-office. But don’t count him out just yet! Vishal is feeling pretty optimistic about his upcoming film, Mark Antony, directed by the talented Adhik Ravichandran of Trisha Illana Nayanthara fame. In fact, he’s so confident in the film that he gave a sneak peek of the teaser to none other than Tamil superstar Vijay. The teaser has got a tremendous response and I’m eagerly waiting to see the world of Mark Antony.

This movie is a perfect blend of science fiction and action satire, guaranteed to offer a unique cinematic experience. The teaser featuring Vishal and S.J. Suryah has already raised my expectations, and I am confident that this film will offer a different kind of cinematic experience. Mark Antony will be coming to the big screens worldwide on September 15th, and I cannot wait to witness this unique flick.
6: Chaver:
Chaver, the highly anticipated Malayalam film, boasts an impressive cast including Kunchacko Boban, Antony Varghese, and Arjun Ashokan. Directed by the renowned Tinu Pappachan, known for his exceptional work on Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil and Ajagajantharam, this movie has generated immense buzz in Kerala. Action movie enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the release of Chaver, and with the talented Joy Mathew as the scriptwriter, I am confident that this film will deliver an intense action drama.
Rumours suggest that the movie will also be a political satire, adding an extra layer of intrigue. Mark your calendars for the 21st of September and get ready for a film that promises to be both entertaining and thought-provoking.
7: Skanda:
Get ready to buckle up and hold on tight for a pumping action ride with Skanda, the latest upcoming film from the renowned Telugu director Boyapati Srinu! This movie is definitely one of the most hyped releases of the month. Boyapati Srinu is famous for creating mass commercial action movies, and his last hit, Akhanda with Balakrishna, was a super hit.
Skanda is jam-packed with high-octane action scenes and I hope the film will leave you on the edge of your seat. And with the dynamic duo of Ram Pothineni and Sree Leela leading the charge, we can expect nothing short of a hit. The trailer of the movie was released just a few days ago, and it’s already got fans buzzing with excitement.

But that’s not all – Skanda is not just limited to Telugu audiences. The movie will also be released in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, making it accessible to a wider audience. And mark your calendars, because September 15th is the big day when Skanda hits theaters. Let’s hope this movie can perform well at the box-office and become the next big hit in the career of Boyapati Srinu and Ram Pothineni.
8: The Nun 2:
Get ready to be spooked out of your wits with ‘The Nun II’! This supernatural horror flick, directed by Michael Chaves and written by Akela Cooper, Ian Goldberg, and Richard Naing, is the ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe franchise and serves as a sequel to the bone-chilling ‘The Nun’ (2018).
But that’s not all – ‘The Nun II’ promises to take us deeper into the storyline of its predecessor and may even reveal events that took place before the appearance of Valak in ‘The Conjuring 2’. This means that the Nun universe is back in the main timeline, and we can’t wait to see what horrors await us! The trailer for ‘The Nun II’ has already sent shivers down our spines, and we’re counting down the days until its release on September 8. And guess what? It’s not afraid of a little competition – the film will be released in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages, and will hit theaters just a day after Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’.
The Nun II features Taissa Farmiga reprising her role as Sister Irene, who must confront what the trailer describes as “the greatest evil in The Conjuring universe.” So, get ready to hold on tight to your seats and prepare for a spine-tingling ride with ‘The Nun II’!
So, no doubt the month of September is going to be a cinematic feast for movie lovers and among these top eight movies, which movie are you waiting for?
