KOCHI — In a major boost for Indian cinema technology, UFO Cinema Solutions has launched MAGNOVA, India’s first 14-metre Acoustic-Transparent Direct View 4K HDR LED cinema screen, at Magic Frames in Kakkanad, Kochi.
Powered by HEYLED technology, the state-of-the-art screen was inaugurated on Sunday by Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan to mark the occasion of Chingam 1. The grand unveiling drew prominent political figures alongside leading stars of Malayalam cinema, including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban, Dileep, Basil Joseph, Jayasurya, and Shane Nigam.
A New Standard in Sight and Sound
The newly installed MAGNOVA screen measures 14m x 6m and features a 3.91mm pixel pitch with DCI-compliant Direct View 4K HDR display capabilities. By eliminating projection, the technology provides higher brightness, deeper contrast, and zero light spill compared to traditional theatrical setups.
The key technological breakthrough lies in its acoustic-transparent architecture. Unlike standard LED cinema displays, MAGNOVA allows theater speakers to be positioned directly behind the screen canvas. This ensures audio projects directly from the visual source on screen, creating precise synchronization between picture and sound. The auditorium has been further paired with Dolby Atmos® audio and Pulz Cinema Speakers.

Nationwide Expansion Underway
The Kochi launch marks the beginning of a planned national rollout for the technology. UFO Cinema Solutions confirmed it is currently in negotiations with multiplex operators and independent exhibitors across both metropolitan centers and regional markets to deploy MAGNOVA screens nationwide.
Following its debut in Kerala, the technology will be presented to industry delegates at the Big Cine Expo on August 18, where UFO Cinema Solutions is serving as the official Innovation Partner.
