Three Maoists killed in encounter in Palakkad: clashes continue

Palakkad: Three Maoists were killed in a confrontation with a Thunderbolt deployed for anti-Maoist activities. The incident occurred in Manchakkatti, Palakkad. The Maoists fired first at the Thunderbolt gang. It was then that the encounter began.

The Maoists fired at a group of soldiers patrolling the area following reports of a Maoist presence. The Thunderbolt patrol was led by Assistant Commandant Solomon. According to police sources, clashes between the Maoists and the ThunderBolt team are continuing in the jungle. No further information is available.

Kuldeep Sengar convicted in Unnao rape case granted parole

New Delhi: Kuldeep Singh Sengar, MLA and accused in the Unnao rape case and expelled from BJP has been granted parole. He has been given 72 hours parole to attend his brother’s funeral.

Kuldeep will attend the funeral of his younger brother Manoj Sengar, who died in Delhi. Another brother, Atul Sengar, who is in jail along with Kuldeep, has received 72 hours parole to attend the funeral. They are being held in Tihar Jail.

Manoj Sengar was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning with chest pain. He died soon after. He is accused of being abnormal in death. It is learned that he was in Delhi in connection with Kuldeep’s case.

The victim, Manoj Sengar, is also accused of the accident in the Unnao girl in July. He has also been charged in the case.

Chandigarh: Manohar Lal Khatter will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana today. The swearing-in of the Haryana Raj Bhavan will take place at 2.15 pm on Sunday.

JJP leader Dushyant Chautala will also be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. Governor Satyadev Narayana Arya had invited Khattar on Saturday to form the government.

This is the first time in 53 years that a non-Congress chief minister in the state has been in power. The BJP did not get an absolute majority in the Assembly elections.

Alappuzha: Mohanan Vaidyar was arrested in connection with the death of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl following unscientific treatment. Mohanan Vaidyar appeared before the investigating officer following the HC directive.

It was reported that the infant who was being treated for propionic acidemia died due to Mohanan’s unscientific treatment. The family of the child filed a complaint against Mohanan Vaidyar. Mararikulam police have registered a case of homicide. Following this, Health Minister KK Shailaja had written to the Chief Minister demanding an inquiry.

Kozhikode: Koilandy Magistrate K V Krishnankutty has granted permission to arrest the main accused Jolly in the Alpine case and MS Mathew in the Sili case. The bail plea of advocate K Haider has been postponed to October 28. Jolly, who is in police custody, was produced before the Koilandy magistrate on Saturday at around 3 pm as the remand period expired. The court then remanded her to judicial custody.

 However, relatives protested without giving any information about the health status of Falu Das. Falu Das has been at the Golpara Camp in Lower Assam since July 2017. He was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. The family alleges that despite all the documents, he was declared a foreigner.

He had been undergoing treatment for a long time with kidney failure. Krishnakumar was also the producer of films like Arante Mulla Kochumulla and Guruji Oru Vakku. Singer Nikhil is his son. In 2011, Krishnakumar had filed an affidavit with the Forest Conservator pointing out that he had given ivory to Mohanlal. The affidavit states that he had owned ivory for the past 28 years. The high court had issued notices to parties including Mohanlal in the ivory case. Meanwhile, Krishnakumar passed away.

Vellore: Nalini, who has been serving a life sentence in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, has launched a hunger strike demanding the release of her husband, and herself, both have been in jail for 28 years. On Saturday morning breakfast was rejected by her. Nalini had filed several pleas with the state government demanding her release. Nalini was granted parole for her daughter’s wedding months ago. Nalini returned to Vellore jail on September 16 after completing a 51-day parole period.

In 2016, she was granted a 12-hour parole to attend the funeral of her father.

Nalini and six other people were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. In May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by an LTTE suicide bomber during an election rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
