Saritha S Nair sentenced to three years in jail

Coimbatore: Saritha S Nair sentenced to life imprisonment in wind turbine scam. She was sentenced to three years in prison. The Coimbatore court convicted her in the 2009 case. She was also fined Rs 10,000.
The case against Saritha is said to have taken Rs 33 lakh from Thiyagarajan and Venkitaraman, both natives of Coimbatore, who promised to set up a wind farm.

Heavy rains continue; Two boats crashed, orange alert in five districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains continue in the state. An orange alert has been issued in five districts followed by Yellow Alert in seven districts. Seven laborers who went fishing after heavy rains were reported missing.
Seven fishermen from two boats went missing in the deep sea Monday morning from Chettua Harbor. One person has gone missing in the inner sea of Ponnani, about 26 nautical miles off Ponnani, from Malappuram. Four others were rescued by a shipwreck from China to Malaysia. Rescued workers will be brought to Kochi soon.
Attempts were made to contact another missing boat with six others but were unable. The Coast Guard is seeking help to land them. The Navy’s helicopter has been searching for the missing persons at sea for about three and a half hours on Thursday.
Denial of overflight by Pak outside; Civil Aviation Sought clarification to Pakistan

New Delhi: The International Civil Aviation Organization sought clarification to Pakistan on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s denial of the airstrip. The action comes based on a complaint filed by India following the closure of Pakistan’s airway ahead of the Prime Minister’s trip to Saudi.
India has sought permission from Pakistan to use the airstrip during a visit to Saudi Arabia. Foreign Minister Shah Mohammed Qureshi then informed the Indian High Commissioner about the denial of the airstrip. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has informed Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan Ajay Baisari that the Prime Minister has been refused air traffic.
Sharad Arvind Bobde appointed as Chief Justice of India

New Delhi: President Ramnath Kovind has appointed Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as the next Chief Justice of India. He will be sworn in 18 next month. Bobde was Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He retires on April 23, 2021. Born on April 24, 1956, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, he graduated from the Nagpur University. In 2000, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court.
He became the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2012. He reached the Supreme Court in 2013. He is a member of the bench which has considered important cases like Ayodhya and BCCI.
Again Firing in Attappadi; One Maoist killed

Palakkad: One Maoist also killed in the Thunderbolt firing at Attapadi. There were reports that Maoists were killed in a clash with the Thunderbolts. And it was sparked controversy. With this, the total number of Maoists killed are four. The gunmen fired at the Maoists while searching for them.
Three Maoists were killed in the firing at Manjikandi on Attapady. Suresh from Karnataka, Rema, and Karthi from Tamil Nadu was killed. Maoists and another man were shot dead. They were not caught. The firefighters were on the scene again this morning while searching for them. Maniwasakam is a prominent leader of Kabini Dalam.
The child trapped in the borewell dies; body buried at Fathima Pudur

Chennai: The boy trapped in the borewell in Tamil Nadu dies. The body of a two-year-old who was found dead in an abandoned well in Thiruchirappalli was buried. The body of toddler Sujith Wilson was cremated at 8 am at Fatima Pudur Cemetery. The funeral was held in the presence of a large crowd including relatives.
The priests of Avarapatti led the prayer ceremonies. The corpse, which had begun to decay, was taken out of the well by a foul odor. He was taken straight to the cemetery after an autopsy. The infant’s death was confirmed this morning, in the wake of a 36-hour rescue operation. The smell from the well had begun around 10 pm yesterday. Doctors confirmed the death in 45 minutes.
Suresh Gopi returns with action thriller Kaval

Suresh Gopi is making a big comeback in Malayalam with Anoop Sathyan’s film. The actor was last seen in Mollywood in the 2015 film My God. Fans are all looking forward to seeing the actor, who is a family-themed and mass entertainer.

District Crime Branch probe into Karaman’s property fraud and mysterious deaths

Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Crime Branch of the District Crime Branch is conducting a probe into the assets fraud and the murder of Jayamadhavan Nair at Karamana Koodam. A team of 10, led by Thiruvananthapuram Crime DCP Mohammed Arif will conduct the probe. Meanwhile, the statements of caretaker Raveendran Nair, complainant Prasanna Kumari, and servent Leela were again recorded.
Former Collector Mohandas was among the 12 accused in the property fraud case. In the FIR, Caretaker Raveendran Nair is the first accused, Sahadevan is the second accused and Mohandas is the 10th accused. The maid Leela is the 11th accused. He is charged with conspiracy, embezzlement and death threats. But the FIR does not mention the mysterious deaths.
The case is currently under investigation by Trivandrum Crime DCP Mohammed Arif. A preliminary inquiry by the District Crime Branch found a mystery and a special team was assigned to investigate. The Special Investigation Team will issue a Notice to the Registrar and the Revenue Department regarding the properties of the house at Koodam today.
