28 fast track special courts to be set up

Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet has decided to set up 28 fast track special courts in 14 districts to expedite cases of rape and POCSO cases registered in the state. It is temporarily allowed for two years.

The posts of District Judge, Bench Clerk, and Senior Clerk shall be created in each court regularly and on a contract basis by Confidential Assistant, Computer Assistant / LD Typist, and Office Attendant.

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to constitute a SubcommitteE. Water Resources Minister as Convener and Local Self Government Department and Finance Ministers as members to conduct a comprehensive review of the implementation of the Water Resources Mission in the state.

The Jala Jeevan Mission is a project implemented by the Center and State Governments to provide drinking water to all rural households in the country by 2024.

KSEB; 70% bill is sufficient; exemption for non-domestic customers

The decision comes after the lockdown was launched at the end of March. The future bill amount will be adjusted based on the meter reading after the lockdown and fixing the actual electric charge.

Bhopal: Five BJP MLAs of Madhya Pradesh were sworn in as Ministers. Though the ruling party, none other than the Chief Minister took the oath. It is reported that the cabinet did not develop due to lockdown.

 The Ministers take the oath at a simple ceremony in the presence of Governor Lalji Tandon, yesterday afternoon. At the same time, no one has been given a very important health minister during the COVID crisis. At present, there are two departments for each minister. Reports suggest that the cabinet will be expanded again on May 3, ending the lockdown.

Six-time MLA and once-ministers Naruto Mishra, Meena Singh, Kamal Patel, Tulsiram Silawat and Govind Singh Rajput have been sworn in as ministers. Two of them have resigned from the MLA and left Congress. With Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia joining BJP, 22 MLAs have resigned from the state.

NORKA provides financial assistance to expatriates worth Rs 5,000

Doha: Non-resident citizens who have not been able to return home will receive financial assistance of Rs 5000 through bank accounts. The application will be accepted until 30th April. Financial assistance is available to those who return from overseas on or after January 1, 2020, and are unable to return to work due to lockdown.

The order does not require NORKA’s identity card. Non-residents who do not have a Savings Bank Account must submit NRO / Native Joint Bank Account Number. Those who do not have such an account have to submit their bank account number and proof of relationship with the spouse.

No funds will be sent to the NRI account. Those who have a valid passport and visa and who have expired during this period are eligible. Upload the name, address, mobile number, passport’s one and two address pages, travel information page, passport, invoice document, visa page/visa copy and applicant’s bank information after January 1, 2020.

Minister to implement ‘Operation Break Through’ in Ernakulam

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister VS Sunil Kumar has said that the ‘Operation Break Through’ project will be implemented soon to solve the water problem in Ernakulam district. Meanwhile, the state government will seek special permission from the state government to start work as the lockdown is continuing in the district.

“The Operation Break Through project and the annual maintenance of the Corporation are being jointly implemented. The government has issued directives to identify the hot spots in the area and take immediate action in those areas. The minister said the work would be sanctioned only in the backdrop of Kovid in terms of social distance and sanitation.

However, corporation officials had earlier said that the project would be cut short due to a lack of funds. The project ‘Break Operation Break Through’ was launched in October last year following a severe flood in Kochi.

There will be a final decision only after the experts meeting at 27, CM explained. 1,900 COVID cases reported in Delhi, and 43 died, reports added. The situation in Delhi, highly dangerous as the COVID patient has no symptoms of COVID. In the US, 40,109 people died from the disease.

In Spain, 195,944 people were infected. 20,453 deaths.

There were 178,972 people infected with the disease in Italy. Total deaths were 23,660.

In France, 152,578 people were infected. 19,718 per tree.

In Germany, 144,387 people were infected. 4,457 deaths.

In Britain, 12,067 people died of the disease while 16,060 people died.

Covid: CBDT modifies Income Tax Return Forms

New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) is updating the income tax return forms for the 2019-20 financial year (2020-2021 assessment year) to enable the taxpayer to take full advantage of the central government’s extension of various schemes due to the COVID 19 pandemic. It will be notified by the end of this month. The CBDT has announced that the Central Board of Direct Taxes has begun to make necessary changes to the Income Tax Return forms for taxpayers to avail themselves of the benefit of the central government action which has been extended till June 30, 2020.

This action is aimed at providing the taxpayer with its benefits, including transactions between April 1 and June 30, 2020, in return forms for the 2019-20 financial year. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced that the facility will be available from May 31, 2020, to facilitate the filing of income tax returns for the 2019-20 financial year. According to the Income Tax Act of 1961, the Central Government has extended the period of filing income tax returns through the Taxation Law Ordinance of 2020.

Accordingly, the date for various deposit/remittances to claim deduction under Section VI AB of the IT Act, which includes Section 80C (LIC, PPF, NSC) and 80D (Mediclaim) and 80G (donations) for the financial year 2019-20, has been extended to 30th June 2020. The date for making investments/constructions/purchases has also been extended to June 30, 2020, to claim a rollover benefit concerning capital gains under sections 54 to 54 GB.

Center Government’s free rice distribution started from today

Thiruvananthapuram: The free rice distribution as per Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, start from today.

The free rice distribution for AAY Priority category ration cardholders will get free ration today. Distribution of rice to AAY (yellow) cardholders on the 20th and 21st and priority (pink) cardholders on the 22nd. The state government’s free food kits for priority categories will also be provided from 22.

Rice and food packets are distributed to pink card holders according to the last digit of the ration card to avoid congestion. Those who end up in number 1 will have access to 22, 2 at 23, 3 at 24, 4 at 25, 5 at 26, 6 at 27, 7 at 28, 8 at 29, 9 and 0 at 30.

A person gets 5 kg of rice. Due to the lockdown, those who cannot buy a food kit from the respective ration shops can buy it from the nearest shop. For this, an affidavit certified by the ward member or the councilor must be submitted on April 21 at the ration shop where the kit is purchased.

Flight Services not resumed, Says Central Government

New Delhi: The Aviation Ministry has clarified that no decision has been made to resume the flight service-stopped due to COVID-19. The Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said this in a statement. He asked the airline companies not to restart the booking until the government decision.

Following the announcement of the extension of nationwide coronavirus lockdown till May 3 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the aviation ministry announced to suspend all international and domestic flights till 11:59, May 3.

There is no decision to make domestic, international services. Meanwhile, Air India started its booking. The minister comes with an explanation following to Air India’s move.
