Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava had earlier argued that Shashi Tharoor should be charged with incitement to suicide and domestic violence if he was not charged with murder. However, Shashi Tharoor claimed that Sunanda Pushkar was suffering from various ailments and that death was natural.
The court acquitted Shashi Tharoor on January 17, 2014. Sunanda was found dead in a room at Hotel Leela Palace in New Delhi on January 17, 2014.
