Covid: Possibility of a third wave; The Prime Minister called a high-level meeting

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened a high-level meeting following the report of an expert panel on the possibility of a third wave of covid in the country in October. The panel of experts had informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that steps should be taken to take into account the possibility of the spread of the disease to children in the third wave.

The meeting, to be held at 3.30 pm today, is expected to assess the situation in the country and discuss measures to prevent a third wave. The meeting will be attended by the Cabinet Secretary, Niti Ayog officials, and officials from the Health Department.

At the same time, covid cases are declining in the country as a relief. According to the Union Ministry of Health, covid was confirmed in 25,467 cases in the country yesterday.

Another 354 people lost their lives in the country. With 39,486 people being cured last day, the country’s cure rate is 97.68 percent. The lowest number of active cases is in 156 days. 3,19,551 are currently undergoing treatment.

For the 29th day in a row, the country’s covid positivity rate is below 3%. Currently, the daily covid positivity rate has dropped to 1.55%. Meanwhile, about 63 lakh dose covid vaccine was distributed last day.

In the signal section of the army Lt. Colonel Sangeetha Sardana, in the EME category Lt. Colonels Sonia Anand and Navneet Duggal, Lt. Richa Sagar, and Reenu Khanna have been selected for the rank of Colonel in the Engineering section. This is the first time that women from these categories have been given the rank of Colonel.

Earlier, women from the Army’s Medical, Judge Advocate General, and Army Education divisions were given the rank of Colonel. This is an indication of increasing their opportunities in the army by giving the rank of colonel to more women. The move also underscores gender equality in the military, official sources said.
