Thiruvananthapuram: It has been decided to increase the number of Plus One seats in the state. In seven districts, an additional 20 percent of seats were allotted. The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting.
Additional seats were allotted in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. There were 3,32,631 plus one seat in the state, including aided schools. There were about 30,000 seats in VHSC, 49,140 in ITIs, and 19,800 in Polytechnics. The cabinet also decided to increase the number of seats by 20 percent in all streams.
Thiruvananthapuram: Isolated showers in four districts of Kerala. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast isolated showers in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Malappuram districts.

Kochi: The CBI is not investigating the Muttil tree cutting case. The High Court rejected the public interest litigation seeking a CBI probe. The High Court said that the case should not be referred to the CBI. At the same time, the High Court has made it clear that if the people feel that the investigation in the cases is not effective, they should be allowed to complain to the court. The court has also issued guidelines for the same.
The public interest petition seeking transfer of the probe into the tree cutting cases in the leased lands to the CBI. A bench headed by the Chief Justice examined the documents including the case diary related to the tree cutting case. The court had observed that there was a big conspiracy in the timber smuggling incident.
However, the government told the high court that there would be a delay in conducting a comprehensive probe into the cases and no CBI probe was needed.
