Kerala hartal: KSRTC will provide only essential services tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: Declaring solidarity with the farmers’ strike, KSRTC said services would not be available normally in the event of a hartal tomorrow.

In the case of essential services, the service will be provided only as per the instructions and demand of the police.  The service will be available from 6 am to 6 pm at hospitals, railway stations and airports under the respective units.  The KSRTC said in a press release that it would try to send limited local services on the main route only with police escort.

Long-distance services will be available after 6 p.m., Monday.  The CMD also said that staff and buses have been arranged in the units to send additional long-distance services in case of passenger congestion.

Permission to dine in hotels and bars; Vaccine mandatory

Thiruvananthapuram: With the first dose of Covid vaccination reaching 91 percent in the state, the government has announced more concessions. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that permission is being given to sit and eat in hotels and bars. Admission is open to those who have received two doses of the vaccine. Employees must have received two doses of the vaccine. Only 50 percent of the total seats will be allotted. Conditions do not apply to persons under 18 years of age. The CM also said that AC should not be operated.

Operation of indoor stadiums and swimming pools may also be allowed for people who have received two doses of vaccination, including workers who have received two doses of vaccination. The operation must comply with the Covid protocol. Exit terms, which were imposed as part of the restrictions, were waived. Vaccine certificates, RTPCR, and immunization certificates are no longer required.

In addition to the education and health departments, the state police chief has been directed to prepare a special plan to ensure the safety of students in case schools and colleges reopen within a few weeks.

She is a member of the CPI (M) state committee and the state secretary of the Janadhipathya Mahila Association. In 2004, she won the Vadakara Parliamentary constituency for the Lok Sabha.

P Sathi Devi, who worked as a lawyer in Kozhikode for two decades, became active in public life through the student-youth movement. She is the wife of the late M Dasan, former District Secretary, CPI (M) Kozhikode.

VM Sudheeran resigns from Congress Political Affairs Committee

The office of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that multiplexes and theaters will be allowed to open after October 22. The decision was taken after a meeting with filmmakers Jayanthilal Gada and Rohit Shetty.

The CM’s office said the theaters would be opened in compliance with the covid protocol and other details would be announced later.

Named Gulab, the cyclone is expected to move westwards and reach the Andhra-Odisha coast by tomorrow evening, according to the Central Meteorological Department’s Cyclone Observatory.
