Mofiya Parveen commits suicide; the Accused’s bail plea was rejected

Kochi: The Ernakulam Sessions Court has rejected the bail plea of the accused in the suicide case of law student Mofia Parveen in Aluva. Mofia’s husband Suhail and his parents’ petition was rejected. They claimed that they were not responsible for Mofia’s suicide and that it was the misconduct of the police.

However, the prosecution has said that it is trying to find evidence by scientifically examining Suhail’s mobile phone and that bail should not be granted. The suicide case of law student Mofia Parveen was handed over to the Ernakulam Rural District Crime Branch yesterday. According to the remand report, Mofia Parveen was tortured at her husband’s house.

Thiruvananthapuram: Supplyco is expanding its online sales and home delivery of products. Online sales and home delivery will start through more than 500 Supplyco supermarkets. The state-level inauguration will be held at 11 am at noon at the Thrissur District Planning Office Hall by Revenue Minister K Rajan. Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil will preside over the function. Minister GR Anil said in a press conference that the first phase of Supplyco home delivery will be started on a trial basis at three Supplyco outlets in Thrissur.

Home delivery will be within a 10 km radius of the supermarket. The supply rate will increase according to the extra distance and weight. You can order Supplyco products through the Supplyco Kerala mobile app. The app will be available in the Play Store from December 11. Orders weighing 5 kg within a 4 km radius will be charged Rs 35 and GST. The minister said the aim was to implement online sales and home delivery in all supermarkets in the state by March next year.

The scheme will be implemented in the second phase from January 1, 2022, in the supermarkets operating within the municipal boundaries of Kerala and in the third phase on February 1 in all the district headquarters and supermarkets. In the fourth phase, the government aims to roll out the scheme in all supermarkets in the state by March 31, the minister said.

Ootty: Seven killed in helicopter crash  chief defence Staff Bipin Rawat is reported to be in critical condition.  The accident took place at 12.20 pm in Coonoor near Ooty.  Bipin Rawat’s wife Madhulika Rawat is reported dead.

 The Air Force’s Mi-17 helicopter crashed.  Four bodies were found burnt. Survivors were reported seriously injured.  Seven of the injured were taken to hospital.  Fourteen people, including Bipin Rawat and his family, were reportedly on board the helicopter.  Although the hill was sloping, the accident took place close to the populated area.  The helicopter was on fire as soon as it crashed.  The area has been on fire for a long time.  The locals came and started the rescue operation.  Meanwhile, firefighters and police arrived. Rescue work is in progress.  The cause of the accident is not clear. The Air Force has ordered an investigation. The trip was to attend a ceremony at Wellington College.  The Air Force MI17 V5 helicopter was involved in the accident.  Heavy snowfall in the area.  It is learned that he was flying back without landing due to bad weather.

Kottayam: Another landslide near the Koottikkal where the landslide occurred a month and a half ago.  The incident took place in a forested area and there was no loss of life or damage to crops.  But the floodwaters inundated about 100 houses in the area.  Hundreds were relocated to makeshift camps and relatives.

The landslide occurred at 11 pm last night on October 16 at Urumbikkara in Kokkayar village in Idukki district, 6 km away from Kootikkal which caused great damage.

This was followed by heavy flooding in Pullakayat and Manimalayar.  Heavy rains and landslides were reported last night near the Enthayar and Kootikkal areas where there was a recent landslide. The Pullakayar and Pappani streams overflowed and flooded many houses.  The Mundakayam crossway was flooded.  The heavy rain started in the evening and continued into the night.  Locals are worried about the landslide in the densely populated Elangat area.

Lonely families in the floodwaters were later rescued by the rescue team.  Revenue, police, and firefighters were also on the scene.  The rains continue in the hilly areas of the district.

Permission for bus service from Tamil Nadu to Pampa

Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister Antony Raju has said that the government has given permission for bus services from Tamil Nadu to Pampa from the 15th of this month.  In the covid context, buses were allowed until the current stop.  The bus service to Pampa was extended at the request of Tamil Nadu.  The Minister also said that KSRTC bus services directly from Chennai to Kerala will be started soon.

Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Rajahamsa bus service to Sabarimala will start from the 15th of this month.  The service will run from Bengaluru and Mysore to Pampa.  The bus will leave Bengaluru at 1.31 pm and Mysore at 5.17 pm.  The bus fare is Rs 950 from Bengaluru and Rs 750 from Mysore.  KSRTC services from Kerala to Tamil Nadu were resumed last Wednesday.
