Thiruvananthapuram: The spread of covid among the police in the state is severe. This reinforces the need for duty adjustment. Most of the staff involved in the spread of the disease are station workers.

Police organizations have approached the state police chief with a demand for duty adjustment as the spread of the disease is likely to hamper the internal security and law and order of the state.

Use the online systems for receiving complaints from the public to reduce the spread of the disease through contact, expand the existing online system to include more options, temporarily withdraw the operation of various squads of non-emergency nature and take steps to deploy them on duty at police stations, give leave for maternity and pediatric patients are the demands needed by the police organizations to the state police chief.

Meanwhile, in the third wave of covid, about 500 policemen in the Kochi City Police have been affected by covid so far. Currently, there are about 200 policemen in the home quarantine. Covid has also affected the families of several police officers, including young children and the elderly.

Covid has affected more than half of the people at various stations. The operation at many stations has come to a standstill as the police are moving to Quarantine in droves.

Kozhikode: Four children have been found missing from the Kozhikode Vellimadukunnu Children’s Home. They were found from the Edakkara of Malappuram. The police arrested them while they were visiting a friend. Police have found 6 missing girls.

Six girls who went missing from a children’s home in Vellimadukunnu have been found in Bengaluru.
The hotel authorities identified the girls and tried to detain them, but five of them escaped. One has been detained by hoteliers and neighbors. The other five were not likely to go far and could be traced immediately with the help of the Bengaluru police.
The girls were found in Madiwala in Bengaluru. Six children, including sisters, went missing from the Kozhikode Children’s Home on Wednesday evening.

Earlier, they were housed in a children’s home as per the directions of the Child Welfare Committee. All six are under 18 years of age. Police say the children escaped with a clear plan. The Child Rights Commission had voluntarily registered a case in connection with the disappearance of the girls. The Republic Day celebration was held at the Children’s Home. The children went missing after this.

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior journalist and former senior special correspondent of Malayala Manorama E. Somnath (58) passed away here today. The death was due to a stroke. He was treated at a private hospital. Somnath was one of the best journalists in politics and the environment. He is survived by his wife Radha, daughter Devaki and son-in-law Mithun.

Kochi: Gold was seized by customs from a passenger at Nedumbassery airport. The gold was seized from a Malappuram resident from Abu Dhabi during a search by the Customs Preventive Unit. The seized gold is worth about Rs. 85 lakh. Authorities said the man was being questioned and was only a carrier.

Thiruvananthapuram: Four more districts have been included in the C category in the covid review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister following the spread of covid disease in the state. Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts have been included in the new C category. With this, there will be five districts in the C category. Thiruvananthapuram district was earlier included in the C category.

If more than 25 percent of the patients admitted to the hospital in Category C district are covid patients, they will be included in Category III. No social, cultural, political, religious, or community events are allowed in such districts.

Religious worship should be conducted online only. Only a maximum of 20 people will be allowed for wedding and posthumous ceremonies. Movie theaters, swimming pools, and gyms are not allowed. Online classes will be allowed for all classes (including tuition centers) except undergraduate and postgraduate final year classes and tenth and twelfth grades. This does not apply if residential educational institutions operate on a bio-bubble model.
