Chance of thundershowers in the state till April 3

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms in the state till April 3.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has advised the public to be vigilant during this time as the risk of thunderstorms is high from 2 pm to 10 pm.

Avoid standing in open areas if you notice any signs of lightning. Windows and doors should be closed. The electrical connection of the appliances should be disconnected. Proximity to electrical equipment should be avoided. It is dangerous to sit on the terrace, on high ground, or on a tree branch during thunderstorms.

Do not go on the terrace or yard to pick up clothes during thunderstorms. Do not allow children to play in the open air or on the terrace from 2 pm to 10 pm. There will be no electric current in the body of the person struck by lightning. The victim should seek immediate medical attention.

Do not go fishing or bathe in the water. Motorists should stay inside the vehicle as it will be safe during thunderstorms. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has warned people to avoid traveling in vehicles such as bicycles, bikes, and tractors.

Wages increased under the MGNREGA workers

Thiruvananthapuram: An agreement has been reached to renew the wages of the MGNREGA workers. There will be an increase of 20 rupees in wages.

In Kerala, with the increase in the daily wage from 291 rupees to 311 rupees. The notification issued by the Ministry of Rural Development contains the figures for the wage increase of the states.

The guaranteed wages have been revised in ten states, including Kerala, Haryana, and Goa. Manipur, Tripura and Mizoram saw no increase. There has been an increase of more than five percent in the existing wages.

Earlier, in Haryana alone, wages were above Rs 300. At present, the revised rate in Haryana is Rs 331. Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have the lowest wages. The daily wage in both states is 204 rupees. In Bihar, it is Rs 210.

HSS and VHSE examinations started

Thiruvananthapuram: The second-year Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examinations will begin today. The exam is till April 26. Higher Secondary Examinations are conducted at 2,005 centers inside and outside Kerala. All preparations for the examination have been completed.

A total of 4,33,325 students have registered for the exam. 2,005 Chief Superintendents, 4,015 Deputy Chief Superintendents, and 22,139 Invigilators have been appointed to conduct the examination.

There are 31,332 students appearing for the Vocational Higher Secondary examination at 389 centers, including 30,158 in the NSQF category and 1,174 in other categories.

The SSLC exam starts today and ends on April 29. A total of 4,27,407 students are appearing for the SSLC examination in the state this year.
