Hanuman Jayanti clash; 20 arrested

New Delhi:  Twenty people have been arrested in Delhi in connection with clashes related to Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. Police said three handguns and five swords were seized from the suspects. The accused were produced in court today. Among those arrested was Aslam, who opened fire on Delhi Police sub-inspector Medalal Meena. A handgun was found in his possession. Eight policemen and a civilian were injured in the violence yesterday evening.

The Crime Branch is investigating the clashes related to the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. According to the FIR, violence erupted over the Sobha Yatra. There is a conspiracy behind the violence.

Extreme vigilance continues in Delhi in the wake of the clashes. Police said the situation in Jahangirpuri was under control. Apart from the Delhi Police, the Union Army has also been deployed. Police said at a high-level peace meeting chaired by the DCP in the North West that both sides should maintain peace and conduct an impartial inquiry.

Police said they were looking into the CCTV footage and footage circulating on social media and were looking for more suspects. Apart from Delhi, police are on high alert in UP and Haryana.

Curfew in Palakkad district till April 20

Palakkad: Additional District Magistrate K Manikandan has issued a curfew order in the Palakkad district limits till 6 pm on April 20 because of the possibility of a sectarian situation following the killing of Popular Front and RSS supporters. It prohibits five or more people from gathering in public places. Meetings, demonstrations and processions are not allowed in public places.

The order states that under Section 4 of the Indian Explosives Act 1884, possession of explosives in public places and the spread of rumors in society are not permissible. The order does not apply to essential services and law enforcement agencies.

Zubair murder case; Four people are in custody

Palakkad: Four persons have been remanded in custody in connection with the murder of SDPI leader Zubair at Elappully in Palakkad. Sudarshan, Sreejith, Jinesh, and Shaiju, two RSS workers, were taken into police custody from the city center. Zubair and his father were hit by a car on their bike and killed by another one. The car in which the attackers were traveling was found in Kanchikode. Police had also received information that the accused had entered Tamil Nadu. KL 9 AQ 7901 Maruti Alto found at Kanchikode.

A 12-year-old boy committed suicide by setting himself on fire in Kottayam following a family quarrel

Kottayam: A 12-year-old boy committed suicide by setting himself on fire in Pampady, Kottayam. Sarath’s son Madhav S Nair (12) died at Arakkaparam, Kunnepalam. The incident took place at 11 am today. Madhav’s father Sarath Cheruvallikkavu is an employee of Devaswom. Sarath and his wife used to quarrel at home. The child wakes up and falls asleep to see and hear the quarrel between father and mother. As the quarrel continued, the child became insecure despite the presence of the child’s parents. The petrol in the house was poured on the body and set on fire. Neighbors arrived and put out the fire, but about 80% were burnt. The boy was rushed to Kottayam Medical College Hospital but could not save his life.

The first indication was that had committed suicide after his parents scolded him. However, a detailed investigation by the police confirmed that the child had committed suicide out of resentment over the family quarrel.

Eight killed in Assam cyclone

Dispur: Eight people were killed and several others injured in a typhoon that swept through various districts of Assam. Four people were killed when a bamboo tree fell on them in a cyclone in the Dibrugarh district of Upper Assam. Another person was killed in a lightning strike in Mattia in the Goalpara district.

The cyclone affected 592 villages in Assam and completely destroyed 853 houses, district officials said. The storm also destroyed temporary huts built by the government for families who had lost their homes in the eviction process in the Dhalpur area of Darang district.

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of heavy or very heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya till April 18.

Veena George directed an investigation of the Food Safety Commissioner in this regard. Following the directive of the Minister, the Food Safety Department will inspect the area today and collect the samples. The minister said strict action would be taken if any tampering was done to prevent the fish from being harmed.

Palakkad RSS leader hacked to death

Palakkad: An RSS leader was hacked to death in Melamuri. Former Sareerik Shikshak SK Srinivasan was killed. He was hacking into a shop near a vegetable market in Palakkad. The BJP has accused the SDPI of being behind the killings.

Srinivasan was running a showroom selling used bikes. Srinivasan was hacked into the shop by a group on a bike. The eyewitness said that he was hit in the head and forehead. A vigilance order was issued in the district following the assassination of a Popular Front leader yesterday. Meanwhile, an RSS worker was killed.

The first attempt was to take Srinivasan to Palakkad district hospital. However, he was shifted to another hospital in Palakkad as several Popular Front activists were present to collect the body of the slain Popular Front leader who was killed the previous day. Srinivasan’s death was confirmed at the hospital.
