Kozhikode:  Anticipatory bail granted to writer Civic Chandran in sexual harassment complaint stayed. The High Court stayed the order of the Kozhikode court granting anticipatory bail. The High Court said that no arrest should be made.

The Kozhikode Principal Sessions Court granted bail in the case registered on the complaint filed by writer, a native of Mukkam. The complaint is that the writer who came to Kozhikode for the book launch on April 17 assaulted the woman. The Koilandi police have registered a case under the charges of rape and insulting women.

Thiruvalla:  FIR against KT Jaleel on Kashmir controversial Facebook post. The case is under the National Defamation Act.

While KT Jaleel was an Indian citizen, with the intention and care to insult the existing constitution in the country and cause riots in the country, the accused, through a Facebook post on August 12, provocatively described Jammu and Kashmir under the Indian Constitution as Indian Occupied Kashmir and the parts of Kashmir occupied by the neighboring country Pakistan as Azad Kashmir, encouraging the anti-national forces to insult the Constitution. It has been said in the FIR that he tried to create a rivalry by hurting him.

Yesterday, the court ordered to file a case against KT Jaleel in the Azad Kashmir reference. The case has been ordered on a petition filed by RSS leader Arun Mohan. The order is from the Thiruvalla Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.

Kochi: High Court grants bail to YouTuber Suraj Palakaran. The action was taken in the case of insulting Dalit women through social media. The bail was granted by a bench of Justice Mary Joseph. The YouTuber approached the High Court after the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court rejected the bail plea. The case against the YouTuber is that he made bad remarks against the Dalit woman who complained against crime editor TP Nandakumar.

The High Court had earlier dismissed the anticipatory bail application and observed that the provisions of the Prevention of Atrocities Against Scheduled Tribes Act would remain. Suraj Palakkaran surrendered to the police after his anticipatory bail application was rejected.

Kochi:  High Court notice to Civic Chandran in an appeal filed by Survivor. The notice is questioning the anticipatory bail in the sexual assault case. Kozhikode Principal Sessions Court had questioned  Survivor including the remarks. The state government had also approached the High Court against the anticipatory bail of Civic Chandran. The High Court will hear Atijeevitha’s plea again next Monday.

The government had pointed out that the sessions court’s observations in the bail order were inappropriate. The observation is against the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. The accused needs to be taken into custody to reveal the truth. In the appeal, the government also pointed out that the delay in filing the complaint was due to the mental stress experienced by the complainant.

Sessions Court Judge S Krishnakumar’s earlier order granting anticipatory bail in the first complaint against Civic Chandran was also controversial. While the anti-women remarks in the bail order in the second case are being discussed, the same judge’s first order is also being criticized.

Kochi:  The High Court stayed the appointment of Priya Varghese as an associate professor in Kannur University. The decision of the High Court was based on the petition of the second ranker Joseph Skaria. The cancellation of the highly controversial appointment is also a big blow to Kannur University.

Meanwhile, a complaint to the Governor demanding that the name of Priya Varghese, wife of Chief Minister’s Private Secretary KK Ragesh, be removed from the Kannur University Associate Professor rank list. The complaint was filed by the Save University Campaign.

Thiruvananthapuram:  Rain is likely in all the districts of the state today. The Meteorological Center has warned that it will rain in all the districts in the next three hours.

There is a warning that there will be more rain in the coastal region of Kerala. It is likely to rain for five days. A yellow alert has been given in two districts tomorrow. Alert has been announced in Ernakulam and Idukki districts. A yellow alert was announced in Kottayam and Idukki districts on the 24th and only in Idukki on 25th.

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning not to go fishing on the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coast till 25. Strong winds of 50 kmph and bad weather conditions are likely over Southeast Arabian Sea, Karnataka coast, and adjoining Central Eastern Arabian Sea.
