Beijing: 27 people died in an accident on a bus that was going to a government covid quarantine center in southwest China.

20 injured people are undergoing treatment. The incident took place on the highway in Guizhou province at 2.20 am local time yesterday. The bus carrying 47 people skidded on the road.

It is reported that the people on the bus were taken to the quarantine center from Guiyang city. More than 900 new covid cases have been confirmed in Guizhou province in two days.

Actress assault case: Judgment on 22nd in survivor’s petition

Kochi: The High Court will pronounce its verdict on the plea against changing the trial court in the actress assault case on Thursday.

Justice Ziyad Rahman considered the petition filed by the survivor. On Thursday, the High Court will pronounce judgment on the petition filed by a survivor against the change of trial court in the case of assault on the actress.

Survivor approached the High Court against the High Court Administrative Division’s decision to transfer the trial of the case from the Special CBI Court at Kaloor to the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court.

The petition was heard in a closed room considering the need of survivor. Survivor’s argument is that the change of court is not legal. The prosecution agreed with this contention. But the defendant, including Dileep, opposed the demand of survivor in the court.

Jammu and Kashmir theaters opened after a gap of thirty years

Srinagar: After a gap of thirty years, cinema theaters have opened in Jammu and Kashmir for the entertainment of the people.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated two cinema halls yesterday. Theaters were opened in Pulwama and Shopian. Speaking at the inauguration, Manoj Sinha said that the government will build more theaters in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir and use them for organizing skill development programs and entertainment programs besides screening movies. “This is a historic day for Jammu and Kashmir. Multipurpose cinema halls opened in Pulwama and Shopian. Offers film screenings, skill development programs and youth entertainment programs,’ the lieutenant governor’s office tweeted.

It was 32 years ago that Islamists shut down theaters, saying entertainment through audio-visual media was against Islamic principles. Before the 1990s, there were 19 cinema theaters in Jammu and Kashmir at places like Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Sopore, Handwara and Kupwara. After the closure, many were left to rot and some were used for commercial purposes.

Mumbai: Maharashtra cancels Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder manufacturing license. Taking into account public health, the Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration has taken action.

The government agency said in a press release on Friday that the powder produced by the company may affect the skin of newborn babies. The FDA said that the lab test found that the pH value did not meet the standard.

Samples of the powder were collected from Pune and Nashik and lab tests were done. The report also pointed out that the pH test conducted at the Kolkata-based Central Drugs Laboratory revealed that the powder did not comply with IS 5339:2004.
Following this, a show cause notice was issued to the company under the Drugs Cosmetics Act, 1940. The company has been asked to withdraw the product from the market.

At the same time, Johnson & Johnson Company is not ready to accept the test result of the government lab. The company has approached the court against the report.

The vaccination camp for pet dogs will start from tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The vaccination camp for pet dogs organized by the municipality will start from tomorrow. Pet dogs that receive the vaccine are also licensed at the camp. Dogs that have been vaccinated within one year will be licensed on production of certificates on payment of statutory fee. As part of the campaign, strict legal action will be taken against the owners who do not take the vaccine and obtain the license.

In order to solve the issue of stray dogs, Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation ABC Monitoring Committee decided to conduct a campaign to fully vaccinate street dogs and pet dogs. Vaccination of domestic dogs is the first phase of the campaign.

The first phase of the camp will start on 18th and end on 20th. Vaccination for pet dogs will be done in 15 veterinary hospitals working under the municipality. The camp will be held from 7 am to 12 noon at Ambalathara, Kadakampally, Thirimmood, Kazhakoottam Thrikannapuram Vettikuzhi, Vattiyoorkav, Vizhinjam, Attinkuzhi Kudapanakunn, Pongummood, Petta, Nalanchira, Thiruvallam and Srikariyam.

For this, ten thousand doses of the medicine, which will be effective for three years, were purchased considering the emergency situation. City residents should take necessary steps to get their pet dogs to vaccination centers and get them vaccinated.
From 25.09.22 to 1.11.22 all stray dogs will be vaccinated in 100 wards in the city in 4 teams.

Labor councils begin; Guidelines released

Thiruvananthapuram: Labor councils are being organized under the leadership of the Local Self-Government Department to guide the youth towards employment and enterprises. The guidelines regarding the organization of trade unions have been released.

Minister of Local Self-Government Excise Department MB Rajesh said that through the labor councils, the aim is to identify job seekers, find suitable job opportunities and guide them to employment within and outside Kerala and the country. This new idea of organizing youth locally and bringing them to work under the leadership of local self-government bodies is the first of its kind in the world.

The Fourteenth Five Year Plan aims to transform local self-government bodies into centers of sustainable regional economic growth. Priority objectives are local economic development and job creation. Trade unions are also part of creating maximum employment opportunities and encouraging entrepreneurship in all sectors.

The plan to provide employment to 5 out of 1,000 people, the plan to start one lakh enterprises in a year, and the plan to provide employment to 20 lakh people through K-Disc will all be carried out with the cooperation of labor councils.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will officially inaugurate the labor councils on September 20.

Youth arrested with 6.5 grams of MDMA in Walayar

Walayar:  A young man was arrested with 6.5 grams of MDMA during a vehicle inspection at the Walayar Toll Plaza as part of a special excise drive on the occasion of Onam.
Denny Baby (23) was arrested at his house in Pannur Mundathanath, Thodupuzha, Idukki. The drugs were smuggled in a private bus coming from Bangalore to Cherthala.
Under the leadership of Palakkad Excise Range Inspector K Nishanth, Preventive Officer (Grade) V Devakumar, V Shyamji, CEOs A Naufal, A Madhu, R Ramesh Vanitha, CEO K Ranjini Driver S and Sani participated in the inspection.

Sandalwood was caught trying to smuggle it in the car in  Wayanad

Wayanad: Sandalwood smuggled in a car was seized in Wayanad Sultan Batheri. The accused were caught during the vehicle inspection by Battery police. The police arrested Koduvalli natives Majafar and Abdul Aziz and Kallur native Gopi who had handed sandalwood to them.
23 kg of sandalwood was cut into pieces and wrapped in a sack and kept in the trunk of the car. 40000 rupees and weapons used to cut sandalwood were recovered from the accused.
