Kochi, January 16, 2024 – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Kochi on Tuesday evening electrified the city.
The roadshow began at 7:40 PM and was attended by a large crowd of people. Modi was riding in an open vehicle decorated with flowers. Thousands of BJP workers welcomed him by showering flowers, waving their hands, and chanting slogans.
Modi waved to the cheering crowds lining the streets. He was accompanied in the open vehicle by BJP state president K. Surendran.
The roadshow was held along a 1.5-kilometer stretch from KPCC Junction to Guest House in Kochi. The route was decorated with flags and banners.
Modi’s visit to Kerala is part of a two-day trip. He is scheduled to address a rally in Guruvayur on Wednesday.
Thrissur, India – In view of the security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Thrissur on January 17, all educational institutions, including professional colleges, in the jurisdiction of Guruvayur Municipality, Kandanassery, Choondall, Naattika, and Valappad gram panchayats will be closed.
The district collector issued an order to this effect. The holiday will be compensated by working on a Saturday. The holiday does not apply to public examinations scheduled in advance and examinations conducted for recruitment to central, state, and semi-government institutions.

Renowned music director KJ Joy (77) passed away. He died in Chennai around 2.30 am on Monday. He is a native of Nellikun, Thrissur. He has directed music in more than two hundred films. He made his debut in 1975 with the film ‘Love Letter’. Enswaram Poovittum, Kalithozhuthil Pirannavane, Kasturi Manmizhi etc. are the main songs.
He is a respected musician who has played accordion and keyboard for over 100 composers. In the early days, he started playing the violin for church choirs. He is one of the few musicians who can handle the accordion with the utmost skill.
Joy joined renowned musician MS Viswanathan’s orchestra at the age of eighteen. Joy, who used to recite songs while listening to them without looking at musical notations, worked as an assistant for more than 500 films for MS Viswanathan alone. Joy himself was the music direction assistant of KV Mahadevan who was prominent at that time. Joy made her keyboard debut in South Indian film music in 1969 and at that time played for more than 12 songs a day in various languages.
He composed music for about 65 Malayalam films like Lisa, Sarpam, Muthuchippi. Active in the Malayalam film music scene till 1990, Joy introduced a group of talented singers and lyricists. Joy’s interest was not only in composing music for films. He composed background music for about twelve Hindi films. Along with this, Joy also got to work with music legends like Naushad, Laxmikant Pyarilal, Madanmohan, Bappi Lahari and RD Burman.
Delhi Police has arrested Sahil Kataria, a passenger in the incident of beating up the pilot of the Indigo flight in Delhi. The beating of the passenger came after he was informed that the departure of the flight would be delayed by thirteen hours due to heavy fog. What angered the passenger was that the pilot informed him that the flight would be delayed after all the passengers had boarded the plane.
After the video of the incident surfaced, Delhi Police arrested Kataria after issuing a notice under Section 41 CrPC. He was later released on bail. Sahil Kataria was taken into police custody based on the complaint filed by Indigo pilot Anoop Kumar who was assaulted. Footage of him being taken into custody from the plane was also released.
IndiGo formed an internal committee to probe the incident. It is reported that strict action may be taken against the passenger including travel ban.
President Muhammed Muissu wants Indian troops to withdraw from Maldives before March 15. The President’s ultimatum came after his return from a five-day visit to China. 88 Indian soldiers are in Maldives for maritime security and disaster relief.
The comments made by three Maldivian ministers regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep were controversial and they were suspended. The ultimatum to withdraw the Indian forces was given before the ripples of this incident subsided. After taking office as the new president, Muisu has constantly raised the demand for the withdrawal of Indian forces. But no deadline has been set yet.
The press release of the President’s Office also stated that the policy of President Muhammadu Muissoo and his administration is that the Indian Army cannot stay in the Maldives.
