The Muvattupuzha POCSO court remanded the child’s paternal brother in custody for two days on a custody application filed by the Puthen Kurish police. The custody period is until Monday.

The police will soon question both of them together to confirm that the child’s mother was aware of the rape. The mother is currently in the custody of the Chengamanadu police in the case of the child’s murder.

The investigation team has decided to complete the interrogation before the mother’s custody period expires. The accused had told the police that he had been abusing the child for about a year. The mother told the police that she was not aware of the abuse. However, the police did not fully believe this.

Immediately after the postmortem, the police questioned him at his home. The child had been a victim of abuse for 20 hours before she was killed. At that time, the accused, who was a male, was the only one present at the home. The police, becoming suspicious, put him under surveillance. After the child’s funeral, the accused was called to the police station and questioned before being taken into custody.

Non-Bailable Warrant Issued Against Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks Against Amit Shah

New Delhi – A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with a defamation case related to his past remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The action was taken by the Chaibasa court in Jharkhand.

The court has directed Rahul to appear in person on May 26. Rahul had requested to be exempted from appearing personally, but the court rejected his plea.

The case stems from a 2018 comment in which Rahul reportedly said that “even a murder accused can become BJP president,” referring to Amit Shah, who was then BJP national president.

The court considered this as a defamatory statement, leading to the issuance of the warrant.

Plane Crashes Onto Homes in California, Killing Six

0

In a tragic incident in California, USA, a small aircraft crashed onto residential homes, resulting in the death of six people. The incident occurred in San Diego, and all six victims were passengers aboard the aircraft.

Several vehicles were also damaged in the crash. The aircraft involved was a Cessna 550 light jet, which crashed into a populated residential area. Upon impact, the fuel tank exploded, causing fuel to spread across the area and ignite a massive fire. Reports indicate that around 15 homes were destroyed in the resulting blaze.

Heavy fog was reported in the area at the time of the incident, and preliminary assessments suggest that poor visibility may have contributed to the crash.

The Cessna 550 had taken off from Teterboro Airport near New York and had stopped in Kansas before continuing its journey. The crash occurred during its final approach to San Diego Airport, where reduced visibility reportedly led to the aircraft descending into the residential area.

While there was significant damage in the residential neighborhood, no civilian casualties on the ground have been reported.

Meanwhile, both the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities evacuated residents from the affected area to safer locations following the fire outbreak.

Trump Bans Admission of Foreign Students at Harvard University

0

New York: U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed a ban on the admission of foreign students to Harvard University. The administration has also directed students currently studying at the university to transfer to other institutions. Failure to comply may lead to the cancellation of their visas, according to a warning issued by the Trump administration.

This move will affect around 6,800 students at Harvard, including 788 Indian students. The action has been taken in response to the university’s failure to comply with the new guidelines proposed by President Trump. Additionally, the U.S. has frozen $2.3 billion in funding previously allocated to the university.

“Granting admission to foreign students is a privilege, not a right. Harvard has forfeited the eligibility to enjoy that privilege by continuously violating the law,” stated U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.

UPI Introduces New Security Update to Prevent Fund Transfer Errors

0

To enhance digital payment security, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has rolled out a new rule for UPI transactions. From now on, only the recipient’s official name as registered with their bank (the “ultimate beneficiary name”) will be displayed during and after a transaction.

This change aims to prevent errors in fund transfers due to confusion caused by similar contact names or saved entries. With billions of rupees transacted through UPI every month, this update ensures that users can clearly verify recipient details, reducing the risk of accidental transfers.

UPI apps like PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay are expected to implement this change soon.
