Indian intelligence agencies have obtained key information suggesting that terror attacks were planned in India even before the recent Pahalgam incident. This came to light following the arrest of ISI agent Ansarul Miyan Ansari in Delhi. Authorities recovered crucial classified military documents from him, reportedly shared with Pakistan’s ISI.
Another suspect, Akhlaq Asami, was detained in Ranchi for allegedly assisting Ansari in passing sensitive information. Reports also suggest involvement of two Pakistani High Commission officials, including Musafileen, who was recently expelled from India.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar responded strongly to Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir, labeling him a religious extremist. He reiterated that religion played a significant role in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, allegedly backed by Pakistan. Meanwhile, operations continued in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar region, where a gunfight between militants and Indian forces is ongoing.
Palakkad: The Supreme Court has granted bail to three Popular Front of India (PFI) members accused in the 2022 murder of RSS worker Srinivasan in Palakkad. The accused—Yahiya Koya Thangal, Abdul Sattar, and C.A. Rauf—were granted bail after the court observed that one’s beliefs alone should not be grounds for denying bail.
Despite opposition from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which highlighted the accused’s alleged terror links, the court allowed bail citing legal principles.
Srinivasan was reportedly murdered in retaliation for the killing of Subair, a PFI leader, according to police findings.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Health Minister Veena George has urged the public to remain vigilant as South Asian countries report a spike in COVID-19 cases. She warned that variants like Omicron JN.1 and its sub-lineages (LF.7, NB.1.8), known for higher transmission rates, could potentially lead to a rise in cases within the state, although their severity remains low.
Masks are now mandatory in hospitals, and people with symptoms such as cough, sore throat, cold, or breathing issues are advised to wear them in public. The elderly, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses are encouraged to follow safety protocols and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
The state’s rapid response team reviewed the situation, and 182 cases have been reported this month—57 in Kottayam, 34 in Ernakulam, and 30 in Thiruvananthapuram. Authorities are ensuring availability of testing kits and enforcing treatment protocols.
New Delhi: The Indian government has expelled an official from the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, accusing him of engaging in activities inconsistent with his diplomatic status. The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a statement confirming that the official was given 24 hours to leave the country and that a notice was handed over to the chargé d’affaires of the Pakistani mission.
Earlier this month, on the 13th, another Pakistani official was expelled on charges of espionage. In the last two weeks alone, at least 12 people have been arrested in India under similar accusations. Investigations suggest the existence of a spy network in North India linked to Pakistan.
Among those arrested is Jyoti Malhotra from Haryana, a popular YouTuber with 377,000 subscribers and 133,000 Instagram followers. Another woman arrested in the case is Gusala from Punjab. Jyoti admitted to having connections with ISI agents, including Ehsanoor Rahim (alias Danish), a Pakistani High Commission officer in Delhi. Their communication reportedly began in 2023 and continued through platforms such as WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Telegram.
Jyoti also maintained a diary, which revealed her emotional ties to Pakistan and a desire to marry someone from the country. Authorities found that she had established connections with multiple ISI agents during her visit to Pakistan.

At Google I/O 2025, Google announced the evolution of its groundbreaking Project Starline into a new AI-powered 3D video communication platform called Google Beam. This innovative technology aims to transform remote communication by making video calls feel as natural and immersive as in-person conversations, without the need for specialized glasses or headsets.
A New Era of Video Communication
Google Beam builds on years of research from Project Starline, first introduced in 2021, which sought to redefine video communication by creating a “magic window” for lifelike interactions. The platform uses advanced AI, including a state-of-the-art volumetric video model, to convert standard 2D video streams into realistic 3D experiences. This allows users to see and interact with others in three dimensions, complete with natural eye contact, gestures, and head tracking accurate to the millimeter at 60 frames per second. The result is a deeply immersive conversational experience that feels like being in the same room.
Real-Time Translation and Enterprise Integration
A key feature of Google Beam is its integration with real-time speech translation, initially available in Google Meet for English and Spanish, with more languages to follow in the coming weeks. This technology preserves the speaker’s voice, tone, and expressions, enabling seamless communication across language barriers. Google is also collaborating with industry leaders like Zoom, HP, and channel partners such as Diversified and AVI-SPL to bring Google Beam to enterprises globally. The first Google Beam devices, developed in partnership with HP, will be showcased at InfoComm in June 2025 and made available to select customers later this year.
Industry Enthusiasm
Early adopters, including companies like Deloitte, Salesforce, Citadel, NEC, Hackensack Meridian Health, Duolingo, and Recruit, have expressed enthusiasm for Google Beam’s potential to enhance remote collaboration. For example, Salesforce’s VP of Information Technology, Darren Clifford, noted that Beam’s 3D technology makes remote interactions more immersive and engaging, while Deloitte’s Angel Ayala called it a groundbreaking step for human connection in the digital age.
Looking Ahead
Google Beam represents a significant leap toward making remote communication more natural and accessible. While initially targeted at enterprise users, Google aims to make the technology more affordable and widely available in the future, potentially integrating it into broader communication products.
Kochi: A mother named Sandhya, accused of murdering her 3-year-old daughter by throwing her into a river, has been remanded in custody for two weeks. The tragic incident took place in Moozhikulam, Ernakulam district, Kerala.
On the evening of Monday, May 19, Sandhya reportedly took her daughter, Kalyani, from her husband’s home and traveled approximately 35 kilometers by bus to her native place. Upon reaching Moozhikulam, she allegedly threw the child into the Chalakudy River from a bridge. After committing the act, she left the scene in an auto-rickshaw and returned to her home, located about 1.5 kilometers away.
CCTV footage captured Sandhya walking with the child toward the bridge. A joint search operation involving the police, fire force, and a scuba diving team led to the recovery of the child’s body around 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, near the third pillar of the Moozhikulam bridge. According to Chengamanad Police, Sandhya confessed to throwing the child into the river from the middle of the bridge.
Authorities are now investigating whether mental health issues or domestic problems contributed to the crime. While Sandhya’s family and husband have denied any history of mental illness, neighbors and relatives described her as someone prone to frequent anger. Her mother stated that Sandhya had undergone mental health evaluations in the past and also alleged that her husband, Subhash, had physically abused her.
Initially, Sandhya gave conflicting accounts of the incident, claiming at different times that the child was lost in Aluva, then saying she had gone missing on a bus, and later suggesting the child slipped from her hands. These contradictory statements prompted an investigation by the Puthencruz Police. Eventually, Chengamanad Police took Sandhya into custody, where she confessed to the crime and was formally arrested on Monday.
The horrifying case has sent shockwaves throughout Kerala. Further legal proceedings and psychiatric evaluations are expected in the coming days.
Bengaluru: Renowned Kannada writer and activist Banu Mushtaq has been awarded the International Booker Prize, making her the fourth Indian author to receive this prestigious honor and the first-ever writer in Kannada to do so.
She received the award for her short story collection titled “Heart Lamp”. The award ceremony took place in London, where Banu Mushtaq received the prize alongside translator Deepa Bashti, who translated the work into English.
This win follows the recognition of Geetanjali Shree’s Hindi novel “Tomb of Sand” (translated from Ret Samadhi) in 2022, which was the first Hindi book to win the International Booker Prize.
Banu’s achievement is a landmark moment not only for Kannada literature but also for Indian regional language writing on the global stage.
Islamabad: A suicide bombing targeting a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, has resulted in the tragic death of 4 children, with at least 38 others injured. Reports indicate that several of the injured are in critical condition.
The attack occurred near the Army Public School, according to Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal.
While no group has officially claimed responsibility so far, initial reports suspect the involvement of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group known for past insurgent activities in the region.
The incident marks another deadly assault on educational institutions in Pakistan, reviving fears over student safety in conflict-prone areas like Balochistan.
