A case has been registered against actor Vijay Deverakonda on the complaint filed against him for making derogatory remarks against the tribal community. The police said that a case has been registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The complaint was filed by Hyderabad-based lawyer Lal Chauhan, seeking a case against the actor. The remarks were made at a promotional event for Suriya’s film ‘Retro’.

The complaint filed by the state president of the Joint Action Committee of Tribal Communities, Nenavath Ashok Kumar Naik alias Ashok Rathod, alleges that the actor, who attended the pre-release event of the film ‘Retro’ starring actor Suriya, made remarks that hurt the sentiments of the tribals and seriously insulted them.

Rathore alleged that Deverakonda compared the tribes with Pakistani terrorists and that his comments were considered racially offensive.

‘Kashmir belongs to India and Kashmiris belong to us. Pakistan cannot even look after its own affairs. They have no water or electricity. India does not need to attack Pakistan. Pakistanis are fed up with their government. If it continues, Pakistanis themselves will attack them. They will behave like the tribals did 500 years ago, they will attack without using common sense. We should stand united as human beings and love each other. We should always move forward as human beings and remain united.  Education is very important,’ said Vijay Deverakonda at the promotional event of Retro, condemning the Pahalgam terror attack.

On May 3, the actor posted a statement on X, in which he clarified that no community should be hurt or targeted, especially the Scheduled Tribes, whom he deeply respects and considers an integral part of the country.

I sincerely regret if any part of my message was misunderstood or hurt. My only intention was to talk about peace, progress and unity. I am committed to using my platform to promote unity, the actor said in the message. The police are investigating the case.

Relief for Actor Soubin Shahir: Time Extended to Appear in Financial Fraud Case

0

Kochi: Actor Soubin Shahir has been granted an extension to appear before the investigation team in connection with the financial fraud case related to the movie Manjummel Boys. He has now been asked to appear on June 27 instead of the initially scheduled date this Friday.

Police had earlier submitted an investigation report against the producers of Manjummel Boys, stating that they had allegedly committed planned fraud and misled the complainant into believing that the first phase of the project was complete.

Despite the producers’ plea to dismiss the financial fraud case, the High Court allowed the police to continue the investigation. The complaint was filed by Siraj Valiyathura from Maradu, who alleged that he invested nearly ₹7 crore in the project and was denied his profit share.

The producers, however, claimed that they were unable to pay the promised amount on time due to financial constraints and delays in the shooting schedule, leading to further losses.
