Strict security measures have also been put in place for those arriving on chartered flights from countries where the UAE has imposed travel restrictions, including India. According to the new circular, everyone arriving in the UAE must wear a special tracking device (wristband) for at least ten days.
Officials said the UAE was imposing more restrictions on flights and passengers in the current Covid expansion situation and would issue further instructions if necessary to monitor the situation.
The new rules apply to people from India, Bangladesh, Congo, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Zambia, where the UAE has imposed travel bans.
Earlier, travel agencies said only those arriving in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah were required to wear the wristband. The new rule applies to anyone landing at any airport, including Dubai.
In addition to wearing the tracking device, the circular also states that PCR testing should be done on the fourth and eighth day immediately upon arrival in the UAE.
This also applies to flight attendants from regulated countries. Transit passengers are advised to stay at the hotel where they are staying and not to contact the general public in the UAE.
All permits to enter the UAE are subject to the approval of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority. The new circular also says that the information must be reported to the authority at least five days before the flights are scheduled.
